We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead our accounting operations and serve as a key strategic partner to our Chief Financial Officer. What You'll Do
As our Financial Controller, you will:
- Lead and develop the Accounting Department
- Oversee all accounting operations, including:
- General Ledger
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- Payroll
- Cash Management
- Bank Reconciliations
- Month-end and year-end close
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and management reports
- Partner with department leaders to monitor budgets and recommend cost-control strategies
- Manage the organization's annual audit process
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax reporting requirements
- Maintain strong internal controls and sound accounting practices
- Oversee the organization's ERP system and accounting processes
- Review insurance coverage and help mitigate organizational risk
- Support financial oversight of federal contracts and grants
- Perform and oversee 401(k) audit activities and Form 5500 filing
- Identify financial trends and provide recommendations to the CFO
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting function
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
- Current CPA license (Required)
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
- 5+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, auditing, and internal controls
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or similar ERP systems
- Experience in nonprofit accounting, government contracts, grants, or multi-location organizations
- Experience leading process improvement and system implementations
