Finance Data Analyst
The Role
Ziina is looking for a Finance Data Analyst to own our operational reconciliations and build the data foundations that power Finance automation. This is a data role sitting inside Finance. You’ll spend most of your time in SQL, working with transaction-level data across our product ledger, payment gateways, card schemes and settlement files, making sure every payment, refund, chargeback, fee and payout is accounted for.
That could mean tracing why a day’s gateway settlement doesn’t match what our ledger says we processed, writing the logic that decides whether a transaction is a match, a flag or an escalation, or automating a weekly tracker that used to take hours. We’re at a big moment in our growth. Our reconciliation engine is already running on our data platform, an ERP migration is underway, and the Finance team is ready to automate more of how it works.
This is not an accounting or bank reconciliation role. You won’t be booking journals or ticking off bank statements. You’ll be working through high volumes of transaction data across several systems to find where they disagree, why, and what needs to change in the product or the process to fix it.
Our ideal candidate is a curious, data-driven problem solver who digs into the numbers until they make sense and loves fixing things that are still done by hand. You’ll thrive here by asking sharp questions, cross-checking your sources, and explaining what you find clearly enough that Product and Engineering can act on it.
As a Finance Analyst at Ziina you will:
Own Ziina’s operational reconciliations end to end, matching transaction-level data between our product ledger, payment gateways, acquirers and settlement reports so that every dirham that moves through the platform is explained
Run our reconciliation engine day to day: monitor its outputs, query the underlying data to investigate every break to its root cause (timing cut-offs, FX, duplicates, reversals, missing settlements), and work with Ops, Product and Engineering until it’s resolved
Define and refine the exception logic that decides what’s a match, a flag or an escalation, and absorb new product flows into the reconciliation as they launch
Automate the reconciliations and Finance processes that are still manual, using SQL and our data platform
Build and own the Finance dashboard leadership relies on for cash, burn, runway and managerial P&L, and automate the weekly burn tracker so it runs itself
Create shared definitions for revenue, TPV, rebates and chargebacks across every system, and work with our Data team on the feeds that bring payroll, Ops, gateway and bank data into our ERP
Make sure reconciled data flows cleanly into month-end close and our new ERP, working alongside our Accounting team
Document how our Finance data, integrations and reconciliation logic connect, so anyone on the team can understand and build on them
To succeed in this role, you likely:
Have 3–5 years of experience in a data analyst, analytics, BI or operations analytics role working with high-volume transaction data, ideally at a fintech, payments company, bank or marketplace. A finance or accounting background isn’t required
Write strong SQL every day, independently: complex joins, window functions and reconciling datasets from different sources, not just running pre-built reports
Are investigative by nature: when two numbers don’t agree, you need to know why, and you check against a second source before you trust a result
Can explain how you got every number you produce, including its assumptions and limits
Have built or maintained a report, data model or dashboard that other people relied on, and know what makes data trustworthy
Spot manual work quickly and feel a real pull to automate it
Write clearly and concisely: problem, expected behaviour, impact, ask, so others can act straight away
Build strong working relationships across teams, especially with Ops, Product and Engineering
Are based in, or open to relocating to, the UAE
What would amaze us
Hands-on experience with payment flows: gateways, acquirers, settlements, wallets, refunds and chargebacks
Experience building or running a reconciliation or matching process on transaction data
Python or similar scripting for automation and data work
Confidence with Metabase, Looker, Mode or a similar BI tool, and familiarity with Snowflake or another cloud data warehouse
A track record of turning a manual process into an automated, self-running one
Experience partnering with Engineering or Product on a data or systems project
Exposure to month-end close, ERP systems or an ERP migration
