Finance Lead - Financial Controllership & FP&A - Banking/Financial Services

Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced and commercially oriented India Finance Lead to oversee the finance function for India operations of a global organisation. The role will be responsible for financial controllership, statutory compliance, taxation, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and business partnering with senior leadership.

The ideal candidate will combine strong accounting and compliance expertise with commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to work effectively with international finance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Controllership & Reporting:

- Lead financial reporting, monthly closing, balance sheet reviews, and financial statement preparation.

- Ensure accurate and timely reporting in accordance with Indian accounting standards and global reporting requirements.

- Maintain robust internal controls, financial governance, and statutory records.

- Coordinate statutory audits, tax audits, internal audits, and SOX compliance.

- Manage accounting operations in coordination with outsourced service providers and shared-service teams.

2. Taxation & Regulatory Compliance:

- Oversee direct and indirect taxation, including income tax, GST, and other applicable statutory requirements.

- Coordinate tax planning, tax reporting, and transfer pricing documentation.

- Liaise with regional and global tax teams on international reporting and compliance matters.

- Support global tax calculations and reporting requirements, including US GAAP tax reporting where applicable.

3. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):

- Support annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-range financial planning.

- Analyse financial performance, budgets, and forecasts, identifying significant variances and improvement opportunities.

- Prepare management reports, financial analysis, and business performance updates.

- Support sales incentive calculations and related accounting activities.

4. Business Partnering & Commercial Finance:

- Partner with India business leaders, sales, and commercial teams on financial and strategic decisions.

- Drive P&L management, pricing analysis, product costing, profitability, and margin improvement.

- Provide financial insights to support business growth and operational efficiency.

- Support strategic initiatives through financial modelling and data-driven analysis.

5. Treasury & Working Capital:

- Manage cash flow, treasury activities, working capital, and credit control.

- Monitor customer credit limits, receivables, inventory provisions, and fixed assets.

- Identify opportunities to improve cash flow and optimise financial performance.

6. Global Stakeholder Management:

- Work closely with international finance leadership, regional FP&A, corporate accounting, and tax teams.

- Ensure alignment with global finance policies, systems, reporting standards, and governance requirements.

- Drive process improvements, automation, and operational efficiency across finance.

Candidate Profile:

- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) with approximately 8 - 10 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting.

- Experience in financial controllership, management reporting, and FP&A.

- Strong knowledge of Indian taxation, statutory compliance, audits, and internal controls.

- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, P&L management, and business partnering.

- Exposure to US GAAP, global reporting, SOX compliance, and transfer pricing will be an advantage.

- Experience working with multinational organisations and international stakeholders.

- Hands-on experience coordinating with outsourced accounting vendors or shared-service centres.

- Working knowledge of SAP; exposure to SAP S/4HANA and BPC is preferred.

- Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict reporting deadlines.
