Finance Manager (Los Angeles, CA)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to expand and strengthen internal controls, financial planning, financial reporting, and analytical capabilities while supporting strategic initiatives and continued organizational growth.

The Finance Manager will play a key role in developing and executing long-term growth strategies, including financial planning, funding analysis, technology initiatives, and business performance management. This role will also identify opportunities to leverage emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), to enhance financial reporting, analytics, operational efficiency, forecasting, and decision-making.

The Finance Manager will lead the Finance Team and collaborate closely with executive leadership and cross-functional departments to support budgets, forecasts, executive presentations, financial analysis, and ad-hoc reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and develop Finance Team members, delegate responsibilities, review work for accuracy, and foster a collaborative and inclusive working environment.
• Oversee the financial forecasting process and review financial models to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with business objectives.
• Assess key performance indicators using historical, statistical, and financial analysis methods.
• Review weekly and monthly operating dashboards and identify significant trends, variances, risks, and opportunities.
• Prepare and present consolidated financial statements, financial analysis, and business performance insights to management.
• Supervise and review the budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting processes.
• Oversee the preparation and review of business review presentations, annual budget presentations, stakeholder presentations, and board-level support materials.
• Support executive management with ad-hoc financial reporting, analysis, and business intelligence requests.
• Identify financial risks and opportunities and recommend strategies to support organizational financial objectives.
• Oversee specialized financial, operational, and cost analyses and related reporting.
• Continuously improve internal and external financial reporting frameworks, processes, and controls.
• Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, including AI-enabled solutions, to improve financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, analytics, internal controls, and operational efficiency while maintaining appropriate governance and data security.
• Analyze industry research, analyst reports, financial models, and market data and prepare comparisons against internal projections and business expectations.
• Supervise the preparation and review of loan compliance and financial covenant reports.
• Conduct comprehensive company, industry, and competitive research, including peer benchmarking and financial performance analysis.
• Provide commentary and visibility into financial performance, trends, and key business drivers to support management decision-making.
• Prepare monthly variance analysis comparing actual results against budget and forecast, investigate significant variances, identify data issues, and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead financial analysis related to potential acquisitions, investments, and other strategic initiatives.
• Ensure finance-related process documentation, policies, procedures, and reporting methodologies remain accurate and up to date.
• Mentor Finance Team members and serve as a key liaison between Finance and other departments, including Operations, Accounting, Legal, Information Technology, and executive leadership.
• Support the development and implementation of financial systems, reporting tools, automation, and data analytics capabilities.
• Ensure financial processes comply with applicable regulations, reporting requirements, internal controls, and organizational policies.



Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of progressive experience in financial management, financial analysis, accounting, FP&A, or a related managerial role.
• Strong background in financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, business analysis, and strategic financial planning.
• MBA, CPA, or other relevant professional certification preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leveraging AI and emerging technologies to improve financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, data analysis, and business decision-making.
• Experience evaluating, implementing, or training employees on AI tools, automation solutions, or data analytics technologies preferred.
• Strong understanding of applicable financial regulations, reporting requirements, and internal control standards.
• Hands-on leadership style with the ability to work alongside team members while effectively delegating responsibilities and reviewing work for accuracy and quality.
• Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical, strategic-thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to identify financial trends, business risks, operational opportunities, and key performance drivers.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, Power BI AI capabilities, or similar business AI platforms preferred.
• Experience with financial planning, ERP, business intelligence, or property management systems such as Yardi is a plus.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly and confidently to senior executives and other stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and follow-through.
