FINANCE MANAGER
Location: Quarteira.
Revigorate - Reporting directly to the CEO - Planned start: January 2027
About Revigorate:
Revigorate is a growing travel and property-management business based in the Algarve, Portugal, with a supporting team in the Philippines. We create tailor-made private vacations and provide vacation-rental and property-management services.
We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of our finance function and establish the controls, reporting and commercial insight needed to support our continued growth.
The purpose of the role:
You will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of finance, allowing the CEO to focus on business development and strategic initiatives.
You will manage one finance colleague based in the Philippines, work directly with our external Portuguese accountants and coordinate with the travel and property teams.
This is a hands-on role requiring someone who can maintain accurate records, manage daily payments, resolve accounting queries and turn financial information into clear recommendations.
Key responsibilities:
Payments and cash management:
Own the daily payment process for travel suppliers, property owners, contractors and company expenses.
Check supporting documentation, amounts, beneficiary details and payment deadlines.
Prepare accurate payment batches for the CEO’s final authorisation, highlighting exceptions and explaining any unusual payments.
Confirm completed payments, reconcile the records and resolve queries.
Maintain cash forecasts covering customer receipts, supplier commitments, owner settlements, payroll, taxes and loan repayments.
Clearly distinguish company funds from amounts held for owners and future bookings
Portuguese accounting and financial administration:
Act as the main contact for our external Portuguese accountants, taking responsibility for answering queries and obtaining supporting information.
Coordinate the information and payments associated with IVA, payroll, IRS withholding, Segurança Social and other obligations advised by the accountants.
Maintain reconciled bank and credit-card records and a consistent monthly closing process.
Ensure financial records and documentation are complete, accurate and available when required.
Resolve routine accounting matters directly, escalating decisions rather than passing administrative work back to the CEO.
Travel finance:
Oversee booking values, customer deposits, outstanding balances, refunds and supplier payments.
Maintain expected and actual supplier costs, platform commissions, payment fees and booking profitability.
Apply the VAT treatment agreed with our accountants and distinguish provisional margins from final results.
Chase outstanding invoices and investigate differences between expected and final costs.
Property finance:
Oversee rental receipts, platform deductions, cleaning and maintenance costs, owner charges and payments.
Prepare and check owner rental statements and settlements.
Assess profitability by property and service type, including full property management and booking-only arrangements.
Resolve financial queries from owners, suppliers and the property team.
Management reporting and planning:
Deliver a concise weekly report explaining business performance, cash availability, significant changes, recommended actions and decisions required.
Prepare and maintain the annual budget, monthly forecasts and budget-versus-actual reporting.
Produce consistent management accounts showing revenue, contribution, EBITDA and net profit.
Evaluate pricing, booking margins, property-management fees, staffing costs and investment returns.
Assess the affordability of recruitment, pay changes, bonuses and additional marketing or growth expenditure.
Provide clear answers supported by figures, rather than reports requiring the CEO to investigate the underlying records.
People, systems and processes:
Manage, train and review the work of the finance colleague in the Philippines.
Establish clear responsibilities, procedures, deadlines and financial controls.
Support the transition to a central financial management system and take ownership of its ongoing accuracy and use.
Reduce duplicate entry, unnecessary administration and dependence on disconnected spreadsheets.
Coordinate with colleagues to ensure financial information is supplied correctly and on time.
Sales invoice generation is already covered and is not a core responsibility, although it may be included where useful.
Essential experience and skills:
Practical experience managing finance for a Portuguese company and working directly with a contabilista certificado.
Familiarity with Portuguese company accounting processes, supporting documentation, IVA, payroll, IRS withholding and Segurança Social administration.
Professional working proficiency in Portuguese and English.
Strong experience in payment preparation and controls, bank reconciliations, management accounts, budgeting and cash forecasting.
Experience managing a small finance team or taking broad responsibility for a finance function.
The ability to investigate discrepancies, resolve queries independently and follow matters through to completion.
Commercial judgement and confidence explaining financial results and recommending action to a business owner.
Strong spreadsheet skills and experience using and improving financial systems.
A demonstrable record of accuracy, integrity, discretion and responsible handling of company funds.
Desirable experience:
A relevant degree or professional accounting qualification.
Experience in travel, hospitality, vacation rentals or property management.
Experience with multi-currency supplier payments and customer or owner funds.
Familiarity with travel-sector VAT arrangements.
Experience with Airtable or similar database and workflow systems (not essential)
What success looks like:
Daily payments are checked, prepared and ready for approval. Accounting queries are resolved without the CEO having to coordinate them. Bank, card, booking and owner balances are reliable.
The business has a maintained budget, a dependable cash forecast and a consistent monthly close.
Each week, the CEO receives clear answers about profitability, cash, staffing affordability and investment, together with recommendations and the decisions requiring his attention.
