TEAM OVERVIEW
Finance supports the strategic direction of the Firm by ensuring effective financial planning, analysis, reporting, compliance, accounting, and stewardship of financial risks and controls. The Private Markets Valuation team is responsible for governance and oversight of the month and quarterly valuation process across private market investments, including the review of valuation methodologies, key assumptions, supporting analyses, and related reporting.
The team partners with investment professionals, Fund Controllership, external valuation specialists, auditors, Tax, Legal, Technology, Client Services, and other stakeholders to support consistent, well-controlled, and timely fair value conclusions. It also develops valuation analytics and reporting used by senior management, valuation committees, investors, and other internal and external stakeholders.

POSITION SUMMARY
Principal role responsible for leading key elements of the private market’s valuation process from Gurugram. The individual will provide senior review and challenge of valuation analyses, oversee the quality and timeliness of team deliverables, manage and develop local team members, and serve as a senior partner to the global Valuation team and other stakeholders.
The role requires strong valuation judgment, financial and accounting acumen, leadership capability, and the ability to manage complex cross-functional processes. The Principal will also help advance the Valuation team operating model through stronger data, reporting, controls, automation, and use of AI-enabled tools.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead and oversee key components of the valuation process across KKR private markets portfolios, ensuring deliverables are accurate, complete, timely, and consistent with established policies and procedures.
• Review and challenge valuation models, memoranda, and supporting analyses prepared by investment teams and valuation professionals across a range of asset classes and valuation methodologies.
• Evaluate key valuation assumptions, including financial forecasts, comparable company and transaction multiples, discount rates, capital structures, leverage, net debt, exit assumptions, liquidity considerations, and other company-specific adjustments.
• Assess period-over-period movements in fair value, realized and unrealized performance, cash flows, cost, ownership, and other key investment metrics; investigate and resolve unexplained or inconsistent movements.
• Provide senior-level review of valuation reporting, performance schedules, cash flow reporting, and related materials used by Finance, Client Services, Product Management, senior management, and other stakeholders.
• Coordinate with global Valuation team members, investment teams, Fund Controllership, external valuation specialists, and auditors to manage valuation timelines, open items, review comments, and escalation matters.
• Support the preparation and review of materials for asset-level Valuation Committees, Global Valuation Committees, Audit Committee reporting, and other governance forums.
• Identify valuation, reporting, data, and control risks and ensure issues are appropriately documented, escalated, remediated, and incorporated into future processes.
• Interpret and apply relevant fair value accounting guidance, valuation policies, and internal governance standards, including US GAAP fair value principles.
• Manage, coach, and develop Gurugram-based valuation professionals; establish clear responsibilities, review standards, performance expectations, and training plans.
• Allocate work across the local team and oversee execution during peak reporting periods, balancing deadlines, complexity, development opportunities, and quality requirements.
• Build strong working relationships with global stakeholders and operate as a senior extension of the Valuation leadership team in Gurugram.
• Develop and maintain portfolio-level valuation analytics, dashboards, management reporting, and exception-based review tools across metrics such as MOIC, valuation methodology, discount rates, leverage, and valuation movements.
• Oversee data management and reconciliations supporting the valuation process, including alignment among valuation systems, fund accounting records, cash flow data, ownership information, and reporting outputs.
• Partner with Technology, Data Operations, and Finance teams on enhancements to valuation systems, reporting infrastructure, data-lake solutions, workflow tools, and control frameworks.
• Drive process simplification, standardization, and automation initiatives that improve efficiency, scalability, transparency, and audit readiness.
• Identify appropriate opportunities to use generative AI and other automation tools in valuation review, data extraction, reconciliation, analytics, and knowledge management while maintaining effective human review and control.
• Support responses to external audit, internal audit, regulatory, investor, and other diligence requests relating to valuation processes, methodologies, controls, and reporting.
• Contribute to valuation policy, procedure, governance, and control enhancements, including implementation of new requirements and communication of expectations to stakeholders.
• Prepare and review ad hoc valuation analyses and reports for senior management and other stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS
• 15+ years of relevant experience in private markets valuation, transaction advisory, investment banking, private equity finance, valuation consulting, audit, or a comparable financial services environment.
• CA qualification required; CFA, CPA, MBA, or other relevant advanced qualification preferred.
• Strong knowledge of private markets valuation techniques, including discounted cash flow, comparable company, precedent transaction, and other income- and market-based approaches.
• Strong understanding of financial statements, capital structures, investment performance, cash flows, and fair value accounting principles.
• Demonstrated ability to review complex valuation analyses, exercise sound judgment, identify inconsistencies, and communicate conclusions clearly.
• Prior experience leading teams and reviewing the work of junior and mid-level professionals, with a strong commitment to coaching and development.
• Exceptionally strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to work with complex datasets while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
• Strong business acumen and the ability to quickly understand complex businesses, investment structures, operating models, and valuation considerations.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and deliver under tight deadlines with limited direction.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to build credibility and partner effectively across investment teams, Finance, Technology, Operations, Tax, Legal, and external advisers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex valuation matters to senior and non-technical audiences.
• Strong risk and control mindset, with the ability to identify, assess, escalate, and mitigate potential valuation and reporting risks.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; experience with Power BI, valuation platforms, Investran, or other financial systems is a plus.
• Professional demeanor, sound judgment, high ethical standards, and comfort handling sensitive and confidential information.
• Intellectual curiosity, ownership mentality, and comfort operating in an evolving, high-growth, and globally integrated environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience valuing investments across one or more private markets asset classes, such as private equity, infrastructure, real estate, growth equity, or private credit.
• Experience working with third-party valuation firms, external auditors, or formal valuation committee processes.
• Comfort using AI-powered tools to improve the efficiency and quality of work.
• Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated outputs for accuracy, completeness, and relevance.
• Experience identifying and implementing opportunities to apply AI, automation, data visualization, or workflow tools to improve business processes and outcomes.
