FINANCIAL ANALYST
Job Summary
Our client in the Oil and Gas sector in Accra is seeking a Financial Analyst (Contract) to provide research, valuation, and economic analysis that supports investment and financial decisions. Reporting to the CEO with a dotted line to the Chief Commercial Officer, the role focuses on evaluating investments, analyzing financial and market data, and supporting portfolio strategy, acquisitions, and long-term planning to enhance profitability and ensure financial stability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform valuations and economic analysis of investment opportunities to guide strategic decisions.
- Build and maintain financial models to assess company and project performance and risks.
- Support financial planning through development of investment models, stress-testing assumptions, and scenario analyses.
- Conduct financial and commercial due diligence on potential investments and partners.
- Prepare detailed investment reports and presentations with recommendations for management.
- Contribute to annual budgets, forecasts, quarterly valuations, reserves assessments, and long-term strategic plans.
- Enhance financial models, economic tools, and reporting solutions for improved decision-making.
- Monitor and report on portfolio and investment performance, highlighting risks and opportunities.
- Track oil and gas industry trends, commodity prices, and macroeconomic developments affecting performance.
- Benchmark company performance against industry peers.
- Provide insights into regulatory, fiscal, and geopolitical developments impacting the oil and gas sector.
- Coordinate and consolidate inputs from multi-disciplinary teams (engineering, geoscience, operations, finance, commercial).
- Review and provide quality assurance of economic analysis performed by other team members.
- Conduct ad-hoc modelling and analysis to support strategic projects, asset evaluations, and capital allocation decisions.
- Demonstrate commitment to Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSSEQ) policies and actively participate in related programs.
Requirements
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS
- Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in economic and financial modelling, valuation, due diligence, or related areas.
- Prior oil and gas industry experience is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience as a Financial Analyst.
- Strong proficiency in spreadsheets, databases, MS Office, and financial software.
- Solid knowledge of financial forecasting, corporate finance, and information analysis.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
- Up-to-date knowledge of accounting, tax laws, financial markets, and business environments.
- Familiarity with upstream oil and gas operations, reserves valuation, and fiscal regimes is highly desirable.
