Financial Analyst
Lochmueller Group is seeking an experienced Financial Analyst to serve as a strategic business partner to operations, project managers, and executive leadership across the company.
In this highly visible role, you will combine financial planning and analysis, project profitability management, business intelligence, and strategic financial modeling to help drive informed decisions, improve operational performance, and support the long-term success of our growing engineering consulting practice. This position works closely with project managers and leaders across the organization to translate data into actionable insights that enhance project outcomes and company performance. Primary responsibilities will include:
Project Cost Analysis (40%)
- Monitor financial performance of engineering projects from proposal through closeout.
- Analyze project budgets, labor utilization, subcontractor costs, overhead allocation, and profitability.
- Participate in monthly project financial reviews for Project Managers and Operations Leadership.
- Identify cost overruns, budget variances, and margin risks.
- Help develop project profitability dashboards and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Work with project teams to improve forecasting accuracy.
- Support project closeout financial analysis and lessons learned.
- Help prepare monthly financial reporting packages.
- Help develop annual financial plan and monthly forecasts.
- Analyze revenue, EBITDA, cash flow, and operating expenses.
- Build financial models supporting strategic initiatives.
- Perform trend analysis and scenario modeling.
- Support long-range business planning.
- Assist with acquisition due diligence and financial modeling when required.
- Help develop executive dashboards using Power BI, Excel, or similar reporting tools.
- Automate recurring financial reports.
- Analyze operational trends and recommend improvements.
- Assist department managers with annual financial planning.
- Monitor departmental spending.
- Recommend cost-saving opportunities.
- Support capital expenditure planning.
- Participate in strategic planning initiatives.
- Support pricing analysis for new proposals.
- Analyze return on investment for major capital expenditures.
- Assist in M&A analysis and integration activities.
- Support ESOP valuation and financial reporting, if applicable.

Qualifications for this role:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
- 3 - 5+ years of financial analysis, FP&A, cost accounting, or project accounting experience
- Experience in Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC), Engineering Consulting, Construction, or Professional Services strongly preferred
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Financial Modeling, Power BI (preferred), ERP systems (Deltek Vantagepoint, Deltek Vision, BST, or similar preferred), Microsoft Power Query, SQL (preferred)
