Financial Controller
Job Purpose:
The Financial Controller leads and manages the full finance function for ERTO, an Irish toll road and tunnel operator run under a concession/PPP structure. The role owns financial accounting, reporting and controls end-to-end, and acts as the principal point of financial governance between ERTO, its concession partners, auditors, and Egis Group.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial accounting & reporting.
- Own the general ledger, month-end and year-end close processes in Oracle Fusion, including balance sheet reconciliations across supplier, GL and bank accounts.
- Prepare statutory and management financial reporting, in line with Irish accounting conventions and the December year end.
- Maintain reconciliation and reporting workbook standards (Excel) used across the finance team.
Accounts payable & payments.
- Oversee AP processing, three-way invoice matching, and supplier payment runs, together with related PO tracking.
- Maintain controls over the supplier bank master file and payment approval process to prevent payment fraud/error.
- Oversee tracking of major contractor Applications for Payment (AFP) and project cost tracking for capital works.
Payroll & pensions.
- Oversee payroll processing and reconciliation, including statutory deductions (PAYE, employer PRSI) and pension contributions.
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll and pension provider reconciliations, resolving discrepancies.
Tax & VAT compliance
- Manage VAT compliance, including correct VAT rate classification across contracts and works orders, and liaise with external tax advisors as needed.
Budgeting, forecasting & contract finance
- Lead the annual budgeting cycle, including decentralised departmental budget templates and cost centre/GL structures.
- Produce 3 reforecasts throughout the year.
- Produce budget-to-actual variance analysis and forecasts for management and Egis Group reporting.
- Support concession-specific financial mechanisms such as Price Adjustment Formula (PAF)/indexation calculations.
Controls, governance & audit
- Maintain and strengthen the internal financial controls framework; act as the main point of contact for external audit and track remediation of findings.
- Support corporate governance requirements across ERTO.
People & stakeholder management
- Manage and develop the finance team; support day-to-day HR matters within finance.
- Act as a key finance partner to ERTO's Tunnel Director, department managers, Egis Group finance, and external stakeholders (auditors, banks, Revenue).
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Proven post-qualification experience in a Financial Controller, Head of Finance, or senior finance management role.
- Experience in a concession/PPP, infrastructure, utilities, engineering or other regulated operating environment is an advantage.
- Strong ERP experience, ideally Oracle Fusion or a comparable large-scale finance system.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Working knowledge of Irish Taxes (VAT, RCT, Payroll Taxes, Corporation Tax).
- Strong people management, stakeholder management and communication skills; comfortable operating at both hands-on and strategic level.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities across close, budgeting, and audit cycles.
