Financial Controller
About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Financial Controller will over see financial reporting, planning, compliance, treasury, internal controls, and commercial finance. The successful candidate will work closely with sales,procurement, logistics, operations, and senior leadership to provide financial insights that improve profitability, working capital, inventory control, and operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead month-end closing, financial reporting,management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
· Provide commercial finance insights across sales channels, product categories, customers, margins, pricing, promotions, and profitability.
· Manage cash flow, banking facilities, trade financing, credit control, working capital, and foreign exchange exposure.
· Strengthen inventory-related controls, including landed cost, cost of goods sold, stock valuation, slow-moving stock, expiry exposure, and write-offs.
· Oversee audit, tax, GST, statutory reporting,transfer pricing documentation, and regulatory compliance.
· Develop and improve finance policies, internal controls, approval processes, governance frameworks, and reporting discipline.
· Partner with business leaders on commercial decisions, supplier/customer negotiations, operational improvements, and strategic projects.
· Lead, coach, and develop the finance team to build accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Finance,Business, or a related discipline.
· CA, CPA, ACCA, CA Singapore, or equivalent professional qualification is strongly preferred.
· Minimum 15 to 20 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including experience in a controllership or senior finance leadership role.
· Strong background in trading, FMCG,distribution, consumer goods, wholesale, import/export, or supply chain-driven businesses.
· Solid knowledge of accounting standards,corporate tax, GST, audit requirements, internal controls, and statutory compliance.
· Strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret margins, pricing, inventory movements, working capital, and business performance drivers.
· Hands-on experience with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel; experience with Synergix, NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar systems will be an advantage.
· A practical, meticulous, and collaborative leader who can operate effectively in a fast-moving business environment.
