Financial Coordinator
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify orthodontic and dental insurance eligibility and benefits and maintain accurate insurance information.
- Review treatment plans and accurately calculate patient financial responsibility, including estimated insurance benefits, deductibles, co-pays, and out-of-pocket costs.
- Clearly explain treatment costs, financial policies, payment options, and payment arrangements to patients and families.
- Establish and maintain patient payment plans and monitor accounts for timely payments.
- Manage patient accounts receivable, including outstanding balances, collections, payment posting, and account reconciliation.
- Submit and follow up on insurance claims, outstanding claims, and denials as needed.
- Respond to patient questions regarding account balances, insurance benefits, payments, and financial obligations with professionalism and compassion.
- Maintain accurate financial documentation and patient account information within the practice management system.
- Work closely with the clinical and administrative teams to resolve account issues and support a smooth patient experience.
- Assist with financial reports and other account-related responsibilities as needed.
- Previous experience in dental or orthodontic billing, insurance coordination, patient accounts, or a similar financial role strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of dental insurance benefits, claims processing, and patient financial arrangements preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to discuss financial matters confidently, professionally, and compassionately with patients and families.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality.
- Experience with dental or orthodontic practice management software is a plus.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
