Financial Management Specialist
This vacancy is for a GS-0501-13, Financial Management Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, FACILITIES DESIGN and CONSTRUCTION CENTER in NORFOLK, Virginia. This is a term appointment not to exceed 30 September 2029.
You will serve as a Financial Management Specialist and be responsible for vast knowledge of accounting and financial management principles and procedures in completing complex assignments. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Provide technical advice to resolve issues related to regulatory requirements and statutory policies, including conducting in-depth research and interpreting guidelines, regulations, and proposing alternatives. Evaluate complex programs for compliance with relevant policies and regulations, including analyzing new policies and their impact on existing procedures and objectives. Perform analyses and interpretations of financial statements and reports to resolve unprecedented problems. Analyze operations, financial systems, and reports to identify trends, anomalies, or problems, and develop solutions, including planning and executing changes to financial reports and leveraging computer technology. Plan and conduct studies of financial management processes (budgetary, financial, procurement, property management), develop recommendations for improvement, and document findings. Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position. A. Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers Level I (FAC P/PM-I) or management determined equivalent within two years of entry into the position.
