Description

What the Job Is
Green Diamond Resource Company is looking for a Financial Planning & Analysis Manager to lead our financial planning and analysis function and help guide important business and investment decisions across the company.

Reporting to the Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, you'll lead a team of analysts responsible for budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, valuations, and decision support for our timberland operations and affiliated businesses. You'll also take a hands-on role in complex financial analysis, working closely with executive leadership to evaluate investments, assess business performance, and support long-term planning.

This is an opportunity to develop a team while shaping how financial analysis supports decisions across the organization. We're looking for someone who enjoys digging into the numbers, understands the bigger business picture, and can turn complex financial information into practical recommendations. Experience in forestry, timberlands, or other natural resource industries would be particularly valuable.

What You'll Do
As the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager, you'll oversee the company's financial planning, analysis, and management reporting processes while developing a geographically distributed team of analysts. You'll work closely with Finance, Operations, and executive leadership to provide the information and insights needed to make sound business decisions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of analysts supporting corporate functions and operating areas, establishing priorities, expectations, and opportunities for professional growth.
  • Manage the annual budgeting and rolling forecasting processes, including financial assumptions, consolidation, variance analysis, and reporting.
  • Oversee quarterly financial reporting, dashboards, and performance measures for management, executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Develop and review financial models, valuations, and investment analyses to support operations and capital decisions, acquisitions, divestitures, and opportunities.
  • Evaluate financial performance, commodity price trends, and long-term projections to support strategic planning and investment decisions.
  • Partner with the Acquisitions and Business Development team on financial due diligence, transaction analysis, and post-investment performance reviews.
  • Oversee financial and performance reporting for managed timberland portfolios, ensuring accurate and consistent information is provided to investors, partners, and fiduciaries.
  • Prepare and present financial analyses, recommendations, and reporting materials to senior management, the Board of Directors, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Treasury, IT, and operational leaders to improve financial data, reporting processes, and analytical tools.
  • Establish consistent financial modeling and reporting practices, strengthen cross-training, and build a collaborative, forward-looking financial analysis function.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Forestry, Natural Resources, or a related field.
  • At least eight years of progressively responsible experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), corporate finance, or financial analysis, including experience leading, managing, or mentoring others.
  • Strong understanding of financial modeling, valuation methods, discounted cash flow, net present value, cost of capital, and capital investment analysis.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with financial systems, enterprise planning tools, and business intelligence or reporting platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop others, manage competing priorities, and build effective working relationships across different business functions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial and business information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in forestry, lumber, agriculture, timberland investments, or other natural resource industries.
  • MBA or professional certification such as CPA, CMA, or CFA.
  • Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning or similar enterprise planning tools.
  • Familiarity with ESRI products, R, or Remsoft Woodstock.
  • Understanding of forest management practices and timberland investment considerations.
