SUMMARY:

The Finishing / Quality Control Technician is responsible for preparing, cleaning, plating, inspecting, and verifying the quality of manufactured parts to ensure they meet customer, company, and industry specifications. This position plays a critical role in maintaining product quality through detailed inspections, accurate documentation, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Finishing/Cleaning & Plating:

  • Prepare parts to be processed according to established procedures.
  • Efficiently process and clean jewelry using ultrasonic cleaners and steam units.
  • Remove stubborn polishing compounds, debris, and dirt from intricate crevices.
  • Inspect serviced items before and after the cleaning process to enforce strict department quality standards.
  • Perform palladium, rhodium, and other plating processes as assigned.
  • Perform visual inspections throughout the plating process to identify defects or abnormalities.
  • Monitor plating baths and related equipment to ensure proper operating conditions.
  • Follow work instructions, process specifications, and quality requirements during all production activities.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area.

Quality Control:

  • Inspect jewelry for defects, including setting issues, polishing flaws, incorrect sizing and metal or stone imperfections.
  • Use magnification & precision instruments such as loupes, calipers, gauges, ring mandrels, and other inspection tools.
  • Identify defects or inconsistencies related to craftsmanship, materials, or assembly; escalate issues promptly for corrective action.
  • Assist with root cause investigations and corrective actions related to quality concerns.
  • Communicate quality issues to supervisors and production personnel in a timely manner.
  • Complete and process orders in a timely manner.
