As a Fire Airtanker Base Manager your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Provides leadership, allocates resources, and implements activities to accomplish DOI's multicultural organization direction. Directs and oversees air base operations in support of wildland fire suppression and serves as a subject matter expert in aviation safety and retardant aircraft limitations. Serves as the primary point of contact for airport management, contractor representatives, public affairs officials, and federal, state, tribal, and local partners regarding aviation operations. Ensures safe execution of all aviation and ground support activities, including site security, communications, aircraft movement, fueling, retardant operations, and ramp vehicle movement. Develops and maintains comprehensive air base operations, safety, and security plans, and provides input to local aviation plans.

Must be a U.S. Citizen or National. Suitability for Federal employment, as determined by background investigation. Direct Deposit Required. This position requires the incumbent to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of their official duties. Selectee must hold and maintain a valid state driver's license throughout their employment in this position. A condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated. Selectees will be expected to travel in (not pilot) a small single-engine aircraft. You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work. You will be subject to frequent extended travel, particularly during fire season, and you must obtain a government charge card for travel.
