Fire/Life Safety Designer/Engineer
Overall Responsibility:
The candidate shall be responsible for fire/life safety (FLS) system engineering in accordance with Arora’s mission of “Improving the quality of life by Rethinking Infrastructure”. They must exhibit the skills to independently develop FLS designs in accordance with codes, standards and project specifications while ensuring the needs of the client are met. In addition the candidate shall exhibit strong communication skills to collaborate with internal and external team members during the design process.
This position has a focus on Fire Protection systems (water-based sprinkler, standpipe, etc.), Fire Alarm and Special Hazard system design as well as all aspects of the Fire Protection Engineering field.
Essential Functions:
- Provide technically accurate, complete technical documents to the client that adheres to all code requirements, company specifications and the engineering standards of practice.
- Analyze and develop conceptual, working, and detailed design of systems for new and existing facilities.
- Develop and analyze project scope, schedule, phasing, staging, specific site issues, and pertinent code issues.
- Coordinate Fire Protection designs with building architecture, structure and systems.
- Coordinate with the Arora FLS team.
- Perform site surveys, submittal reviews, inspections, respond to RFIs, and generate punch lists.
- Communicate with co-workers, technical resources, external consultants, clients/owners and Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
Secondary Functions:
- Support other FLS team members in the development of conceptual, working, and detailed design of Fire Protection, Fire Alarm and Special Hazard systems as well as all aspects of the Fire Protection Engineering field for new and existing facilities.
- Provide support to FLS management.
- Perform Quality Assurance Quality Control (QAQC) of FLS designs.
- Participate in local FLS organization meetings.
