Fire Protection Engineer

This vacancy is for a GS - 0804 - 13, Fire Protection Engineer located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SILC ENGINEERING SERVICES DIVISION in NORFOLK, Virginia.

You will serve as an Fire Protection Engineer and be responsible for developing and maintaining highly effective Coast Guard (CG) facilities through assigned projects as well as performing as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for designs and studies performed by Architect/ Engineering (AE) firms, contracted support personnel and construction contracts. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Managing the complete lifecycle of fire protection systems for a nation-wide portfolio of shore facilities, overseeing all aspects of design, modification, and configuration control. Managing the complete inspection and analysis cycle for all fire protection systems, guaranteeing adherence to code, maintenance standards, and operational protocols. Managing the project scoping process by directing the analysis of all reports, drawings, and specifications to ensure alignment with applicable codes. Managing the end-to-end design of fire protection systems, from initial planning to final implementation, guaranteeing adherence to all applicable international, federal, and state standards. Managing the technical and strategic guidance provided to project managers and leadership, defining project needs, scopes of work, levels of effort, resources, and constraints to ensure successful outcomes. MAXIMUM ENTRY AGE: This position requires a maximum entry age for an initial appointment; applicants cannot have reached their 37th birthday by the date of appointment.
