Job Summary:

The Revit Designer in the Fire Sprinkler department will create detailed fire sprinkler design drawings and track submittals and approvals. The position works in a team environment to provide technical support to technicians and project managers throughout the delivery cycle. The role requires a strong understanding of fire protection design, customer needs, project requirements, and applicable codes and standards. The position will work closely with project managers, field personnel, contractors, engineers, and other members of the design team to develop accurate and constructible fire sprinkler systems. The position plays a vital part in enhancing the Company’s footprint and contributing to the strength and sustainable growth of Jarrett Fire Protection.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Reviews construction contract documents and coordinates with subcontractors, General Contractors, Owners, and Engineers to gather the required information to design fire sprinkler systems.
• Develops fire sprinkler system designs using Revit and applicable fire protection design software.
• Creates detailed 3D fire sprinkler models, installation drawings, and construction documents in accordance with project requirements.
• Develops and maintains accurate project models, templates, families, and design documentation.
• Performs hydraulic calculations for fire sprinkler systems in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Coordinates pipe, sprinkler, equipment, and other fire protection components with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and other building systems.
• Reviews plans and project conditions to determine construction feasibility through effective analytical thinking and problem-solving.
• Creates material stock lists for all materials required throughout the project.
• Performs field surveys and verifies existing site conditions as required.
• Attend project-specific meetings and coordination meetings as required.
• Maintains current designs, project documentation, and historical records for future use.
• Monitors and manages assigned projects to comply with safety, quality, productivity, schedule, and profitability requirements.
• Assists and/or directs the Lead Foreman during the field check stage of the project.
• Ensures fire sprinkler designs comply with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and permit requirements.
• Coordinates with Engineers, Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), General Contractors, Owners, and other project stakeholders as required.
• Interacts productively with colleagues to address and handle challenging situations in a professional manner.
• Possesses excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers, contractors, project teams, and the general public.
• Helps identify opportunities for continuous improvement in design processes and offers solutions to promote efficiency and accuracy.
• Adheres to all company employment policies and safe work practices.

Experience/Training/Education:

• Minimum of 3–5 years of practical experience in fire sprinkler design preferred.
• Experience designing fire sprinkler systems using Revit preferred.
• NICET certification preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work with Revit and other computer-based design and engineering software.
• Working knowledge of NFPA standards, applicable building and fire codes, and fire sprinkler design principles preferred.
• Knowledge of multiple building systems and construction coordination is a plus.
• Experience with hydraulic calculation software is preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction documents and project coordination.
• Project planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical construction documents.
