Firmware Developer

Summary

The Firmware Developer will design and maintain embedded software for wireless lighting control products using Nordic Semiconductor platforms. The role involves working with BLE, mesh networking, and AI-powered development tools to deliver scalable, secure firmware solutions.

Build the intelligence inside connected devices.

We are looking for an experienced Firmware Developer to join our engineering team and help develop the next generation of Casambi-enabled products.

Your primary focus will be embedded software development for wireless devices built on Nordic Semiconductor platforms. You will work with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), mesh networking, device communication protocols, and system-level firmware that powers reliable, secure, and scalable lighting control solutions.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working close to hardware while also understanding complete system architectures, from embedded devices to mobile applications, gateways, and cloud services. We're looking for an engineer who is curious, continuously learns new technologies, and actively uses AI-powered tools to improve development efficiency and software quality.

What you'll do

Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for wireless products based on Nordic Semiconductor SoCs

Develop software using Nordic SDKs, including nRF Connect SDK and Zephyr-based solutions

Implement and maintain Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Bluetooth Mesh, and other wireless communication technologies

Develop and optimize communication protocols between embedded devices, mobile applications, gateways, and cloud services

Participate in architecture, design reviews, code reviews, testing, and debugging activities

Investigate and resolve complex issues across hardware, firmware, wireless communication, and system integrations

Contribute to device provisioning, security, diagnostics, and over-the-air (OTA) firmware update solutions

Collaborate closely with hardware, mobile, cloud, backend, QA, and product teams

Use AI-powered development tools to improve productivity, code quality, troubleshooting, and learning

Participate throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept and development to deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement

Contribute to multiple products and technology initiatives as priorities evolve

What we're looking for

Essential

5+ years of professional embedded software or firmware development experience

Strong C/C++ programming skills

Experience developing software for ARM Cortex-M based microcontrollers

Experience with Nordic Semiconductor development platforms and SDKs

Solid understanding of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and wireless communication principles

Experience debugging embedded systems using modern development and test tools

Understanding of RTOS concepts and embedded software architecture

Experience with communication protocols and device interoperability

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and domains

Experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and software quality

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Highly appreciated

Experience with nRF Connect SDK, Zephyr RTOS, or Nordic SoftDevice architectures

Experience with Bluetooth Mesh networking

Experience implementing secure boot, device security, and firmware update mechanisms

Experience with Linux-based embedded systems or gateway devices

Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, and firmware release processes

Understanding of RF technologies and wireless performance optimization

Experience bringing products from concept to mass production and customer deployment

Product-oriented mindset and customer focus

Why join us?

You'll work on products that combine embedded systems, wireless communication, cloud connectivity, mobile applications, and real-world customer deployments. This role offers the opportunity to solve challenging technical problems while developing technology used in hundredths of thousands of installations worldwide.

We value engineers who care not only about writing firmware, but also about delivering successful products that solve real customer problems and continue to provide value long after their initial release.

We are looking for product builders, not just firmware developers. Candidates with experience bringing connected products from idea to customer deployment are particularly encouraged to apply.

*Applications are processed with the help of AI (for example, to detect and summarize whether criteria are met), but the final assessment is always made by a human.
