Embedded firmware developer (2-3 yrs experience) joining the R&D team of a Swiss optical inspection systems manufacturer: writing C/C++ and Python firmware on Linux, building device drivers, U-Boot/kernel/Device Tree work, and real-time video pipelines for machine vision. Hiring Company: for an innovative company, in the production of optical inspection systems sector, our Recruitment Engineers are looking for a FIRMWARE EMBEDDED DEVELOPER.
Core Responsibilities
We are looking for a Firmware Embedded Developer with hardware skills to join the Embedded team in our R&D department. The role requires strong programming skills and expertise in machine vision, image processing and embedded computing, with a patient, organized and problem-solving approach.
- Develop and optimize firmware and software for embedded systems using C/C++ and Python
- Work with Linux-based environments, focusing on system performance and efficiency
- Develop and integrate device drivers for microcontrollers and embedded platforms
- Optimize memory usage and handle cross-compilation for embedded architectures
- Conduct debugging and memory leak analysis to ensure system stability
- Work with U-Boot, Linux Kernel, kernel drivers and Device Trees to enhance system functionality
- Collaborate with R&D teams on machine vision and image processing solutions
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to system architecture discussions
- Work on real-time video acquisition, analysis, recording and streaming
Job Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus
- At least 2/3 years of experience in firmware and software development for embedded systems
- Strong proficiency in Linux, C/C++ programming and microcontrollers; good knowledge of Python
- Experience with device drivers and memory optimization
- Knowledge of cross-compiling for embedded systems
- Competence in real-time video acquisition, analysis, recording and streaming
- Experience with version control systems (Git)
- Advanced English, written and spoken
Desiderable Competencies
- Experience with U-Boot, Linux Kernel, kernel drivers and Device Trees
- Experience with ARM processors in Linux environments
- Expertise in memory leak analysis and performance tuning
- Familiarity with Rust for embedded development
