Job Overview

The FW Engineer Team Leader at Teletrac Navman oversees firmware development, guiding a team to deliver reliable releases. Responsibilities and Duties

· Support, coach and motivate members of the team in delivery to set standards, customer satisfaction and timeframe.

· Provide expertise to assist other members of the team with complex issues.

· Develop, enhance, and maintain Teletrac Navman embedded solutions.

· Be a contributing member of the Firmware Engineering team.

· Promote and drive a passionate customer driven culture by ensuring a strong focus on delivery, execution, and the customer.

· Ensure that you maintain proficiency in a wide range of technology products/platforms.

· Identify the skills of team members and source, facilitate the necessary training to match customer demand.

· Align priorities and systems to serve customers’ needs.

· Coach and motivate team members get better at what they do and ensure they receive the support they might require.

· Ensure team members comply with the agreed standards and quality assurance processes.

· Coach a team of well trained, competent technical professionals to be responsive to customer needs and requests as well as business objectives & outcomes.

· Maintain a high degree of adaptability to learn new technologies and methods as needed to successfully manage the daily challenges of a technical environment and coach team members towards the same mindset.

· Manage the daily challenges of a technical environment by coaching members of the chapter to quickly evaluate, understand, and creatively problem-solve issues to achieve results.

· Lead continuous improvement activities and encourage team members to identify ineffective processes and contribute to new ideas and ways of working.

· Foster collaboration among team members and other organisational departments, stakeholders, customers.

· Monitor overall deployed product performance and health.

· Develop reliable and robust firmware application code.

· Be an active member of a self-organising agile team.

· Produce high quality technical designs and specifications.

· Iterate specifications to satisfy requirements from other components of the entire solution.

· Provide ongoing bug fixing and maintenance throughout the product life cycle.

· Ensure ongoing adherence to all Teletrac Navman software standards

· Identify and help specify new products, sharing information within the team

Required Skills / Qualifications

· Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent relevant field and/or equivalent significant, relevant industry experience.

· 7+ years of experience in embedded software development using C (bare metal and Free RTOS), including a minimum of 2 years in a lead role.

· Knowledge in the location services, GIS, or geospatial industries would be an advantage but not essential.

· Strong attention to detail and has demonstrated the ability to solve complex problems skills and the ability to come up and communicate quick and creative solutions.

· Ability to work independently and in a team, contributes on improving software quality and being able to share the knowledge with each other.

· Ability to understand/learn new languages, technologies and tools.

· Interested in using automation and innovation to help a business run smoothly and grow.

· Professional attitude with high standards in development and documentation.

· Willingness to take ownership, be held accountable and achieve a good outcome for all stakeholders.

· Able to work with a diverse array of people, challenging in a non-confrontational way and build successful working relationships.

· Experience with CAN Bus and associated tools and protocols - J1939, J1979, etc. AND/ OR passion for vehicles and associated technologies, with key focus on CAN bus

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
