Firmware Engineer

Summary

Design and develop embedded firmware for Xilinx FPGAs and PIC microcontrollers using VHDL and C/C++, integrating hardware into bespoke systems.

Salary: £32,000 - 35,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Formal qualification such as HNC, HND, or BEng
  • Solid experience in FPGA or ASIC design and verification
  • Excellent VHDL and C/C++ coding skills
  • Experience working with microprocessors, preferably PIC microprocessors
  • Ability to derive FPGA architectures and requirements from system requirements
  • Willingness to learn and grow long term within our business
  • Relevant electronics experience and knowledge
Responsibilities:
  • Develop embedded software for Xilinx FPGAs using VHDL and PIC microcontrollers using C/C++
  • Design and develop bespoke products in a project-based environment
  • Develop full turn-key systems integrating PIC microprocessors and Xilinx FPGAs
  • Work to strict customer deadlines while managing multiple projects
  • Contribute effectively within a small engineering team where knowledge is shared and high-quality solutions are delivered

We are recruiting for a Firmware Engineer / Digital Electronics Engineer to join our engineering department and support the design and development of bespoke products within a small, collaborative team. The role is based in Dursley, Gloucestershire, and due to the rural location, your own transport may be required unless you live locally. We offer a salary of around £35,000 per annum depending on experience, 37.5 hours per week, 22 days holiday plus bank holidays, an AXA health care scheme, a 9% auto-enrolment pension scheme, and free parking.
