The Organization

Established in 2012, Urban Squash Cleveland (USC) promotes the academic success and the physical and mental health of Cleveland youth through intensive educational and enrichment programming, training and competition in the sport of squash, and meaningful connections between youth and caring adults in a nurturing, supportive community. USC also offers the Cleveland Community Squash program, which provides a variety of activities at affordable rates, including access to leagues, lessons, clinics and tournaments. Squash players of all ages and skill levels enjoy the fun-filled environment. USC is a proud member of the US Squash Community Access Network and the Squash and Education Alliance.

Urban Squash Cleveland is located on the campus of Urban Community School (UCS), and all Urban Squash Cleveland team members are employed by UCS. For over 50 years, Urban Community School (UCS) has served Cleveland’s children by providing an individualized, innovative, and challenging education. Rooted in the Ursuline Sisters’ tradition of faith, character, and educational excellence, UCS engages our faculty, families, and community partners in the successful whole child development of students. UCS serves nearly 800 students from 6 weeks old - 8th grade using restorative practices and conscious discipline. Seventy-six percent of our families are economically disadvantaged. The growing campus in Ohio City is home to The MetroHealth System, House of Champions, Urban Squash Cleveland, USA Lacrosse, Re:Source Cleveland and Facing History and Ourselves.

UCS is a recipient of the 2026 and 2022 Top Workplace Award from The Plain Dealer, which is based solely on employee feedback. UCS has also been recognized as one of Cleveland’s City Champions by The Plain Dealer, a National Green Ribbon School for Environmental Practices and Learning Model, and a School of Excellence by the Cleveland Foundation and The George Gund Foundation.
