About the Role

IMG is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Machinist / Fitter & Turner to join our operations on a full‑time, permanent basis in East Tamaki.
This role involves manual machining, fitting, and mechanical work to manufacture, assemble, maintain, and repair components and equipment in an operational workshop environment.

The successful candidate will apply precision machining and fitting skills to produce high‑quality components while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Operate manual machining equipment, including small and large lathes and milling machines
  • Perform fitting, assembly, adjustment, and installation of mechanical components
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and job instructions
  • Manufacture, modify, and repair mechanical parts to required tolerances
  • Inspect finished components to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications
  • Carry out routine equipment checks and basic machine maintenance
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and productive work environment in accordance with health and safety requirements
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members and follow verbal and written instructions to a high standard
  • Work independently and as part of a team to meet operational deadlines

Skills and Experience Required

  • Trade qualification as a Machinist, Fitter & Turner, or a recognised overseas equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant post‑qualification experience in a machining or mechanical environment
  • Proven experience in large‑scale manual machining (essential)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good problem‑solving skills and workmanship standards

Desirable / Advantageous Skills

  • CNC machining experience (advantageous but not essential)
  • Experience working in industrial, production, or maintenance environments

Employment Details

  • Employment type: Full‑time, permanent
  • Hours: Minimum 40 hours per week
  • Pay rate: $38 - $43 per hour, depending on skills and experience


The successful applicant must be legally eligible to work in New Zealand at the time of commencement

A pre‑employment drug and alcohol test is required.
