Fitting Supervisor
Position summary
Run the stitching room. Sequence work across the largest team in the plant and roughly nine distinct machine operations so that every upper reaches Lasting complete, in size order, and on schedule.
Essential functions
- Sequence and balance work across skiving, marking, cementing, backstay, eyelet, box toe, closing and top-stitch stations.
- Own the department skill matrix. Rate every operator on every station and close the gaps where only one person can run a machine.
- Set and adjust thread tension, needle size, stitch length and gauge on post-bed, flatbed and Puritan machines.
- Inspect uppers for stitch quality, seam alignment, backstay placement and eyelet spacing before releasing them to Lasting.
- Manage work in process. Raise it early if Fitting is about to become the bottleneck.
- Train new fitters and certify them before they run production unsupervised.
