This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a FIU Analyst - 12 month contract based in India.

This role sits within a Financial Intelligence Unit focused on protecting a fast-moving digital-asset platform from financial crime, money laundering, and terrorist financing.
You will investigate transaction monitoring alerts and blockchain activity, combining data from internal systems, on-chain analytics, and open-source intelligence.
The position offers hands-on exposure to complex financial crime investigations in a regulated fintech and cryptocurrency environment.
You will independently assess unusual customer and transactional behavior and make well-supported decisions on potential risks.
The role also involves preparing concise investigative findings and supporting suspicious activity reporting where appropriate.
You will work closely with senior FIU, Risk, and Compliance stakeholders across international jurisdictions.
Success requires sound judgment, attention to detail, adaptability, and a genuine interest in blockchain technology and financial crime detection.

Accountabilities:

  • Independently investigate transaction monitoring alerts and identify activity that may be inconsistent with a customer's profile or expected behavior.
  • Use transaction monitoring, blockchain analytics, and wallet-screening tools to investigate potentially suspicious on-chain activity and identify relevant risk indicators.
  • Review KYT alerts, blockchain transactions, customer information, counterparties, and associated activity to determine appropriate case outcomes.
  • Conduct targeted open-source research on customers, counterparties, and transactional activity when required.
  • Combine information from internal systems, blockchain intelligence platforms, and external sources to conduct thorough financial crime investigations.
  • Apply sound judgment and analytical reasoning to reach clear, defensible alert dispositions and document supporting conclusions.
  • Prepare concise alert and case investigations for potential Suspicious Matter Report (SMR) consideration and draft reports when required.
  • Escalate unusual or potentially suspicious findings to appropriate FIU and Compliance leadership and collaborate on determining the appropriate course of action.
  • Ensure transaction monitoring alerts, investigations, and regulatory reporting activities are completed within established deadlines and service-level requirements.
  • Contribute investigative insights and rule or alert outcomes to the broader AML program to support continuous improvement.
  • Stay current with emerging financial crime typologies, blockchain risks, investigative techniques, and relevant compliance requirements.
  • Requirements:

    • At least 2 years of professional experience in financial crime, AML, compliance analytics, transaction monitoring, or financial investigations.
    • Experience working with blockchain analytics solutions such as Chainalysis, TRM, Elliptic, CipherTrace, or Scorechain.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify patterns across large volumes of transactional information.
    • Ability to independently assess alerts, investigate complex activity, and make practical, well-supported decisions.
    • Familiarity with transaction monitoring, KYT, blockchain investigations, AML controls, suspicious activity reporting, and financial crime risk indicators.
    • ACAMS, ACFCS, ICA, or a comparable financial crime/compliance accreditation is preferred.
    • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to explain complex or technical findings clearly to different audiences.
    • Ability to manage shifting priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
    • Comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively with FIU, Risk, Compliance, and other stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated willingness to learn new investigative technologies and analytical tools.
    • A proactive, collaborative, solution-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership.
    • Nice to have:

      • Previous experience within a fintech, cryptocurrency, digital-assets, or blockchain-focused organization.
      • Certifications or formal training in blockchain analytics platforms.
      • Experience preparing or contributing to suspicious activity reports.
      • Understanding of cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, and emerging financial crime typologies.
      • Experience translating investigation findings into improvements to AML rules, controls, or investigation processes.
