Starting Salary: $100,000/year, with higher pay available depending on experience
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance and performance of a fleet of vehicles and equipment across multiple operations. This role is responsible for ensuring maintenance programs are completed safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively while minimizing downtime and maximizing equipment utilization.
Essential Functions
- Work closely with Assistant Fleet Maintenance leadership and Shop Managers to promote safety, service excellence, and operational efficiency.
- Respond promptly to equipment failures and assist with resolving customer concerns and complaints.
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize equipment utilization.
- Analyze equipment and maintenance data to anticipate future needs and recommend equipment replacements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures for maintenance and inventory management.
- Ensure Shop Managers maintain accurate reporting and timely project scheduling.
- Mentor and support staff while maintaining a positive, productive work environment.
- Participate in the hiring process and assist in selecting qualified candidates.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and performance assessments for direct reports.
- Stay current on industry practices, regulations, and maintenance-related knowledge.
- Maintain confidentiality of company and employee information.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and positive working relationships at all times.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 10+ years of fleet management experience.
- High School Diploma and technical training in a related field.
- Experience in the railroad, construction, or heavy equipment industry.
- Strong knowledge of D.O.T. regulations and safety policies.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn and utilize additional software systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong team-oriented attitude and leadership abilities.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Class A or Class B CDL preferred.
- Must be available 24/7 for emergency calls and on-call situations.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to work effectively under stress and in inclement weather conditions.
- Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must be available for on-call and emergency situations.
- Ability to respond to urgent maintenance and equipment issues as needed.
