And you will wonder: Mariana, what will my day-to-day be like wearing the blue shirt? I love that you ask me this question (I asked it to myself at the time too):

Within the Underwriting Unit, we are looking for a Fleet Underwriter. Your objective will be to manage an assigned business portfolio and to analyze and serve the market regarding new business opportunities that come our way in order to grow the portfolio and achieve the results required by the plan (new business, retention targets, loss ratio, etc.).

Your day-to-day will consist of

• Define renewal conditions for the managed portfolio.
• Analyze and provide terms and conditions for new business opportunities.
• Interact with market teams (e.g., in the Territorial Directorates) to manage the business pipeline necessary to meet business plans.
• Interact with brokers in the management of the risks and opportunities of their portfolio.
• Support and provide training to more junior underwriters within the same team.
• Occasionally support the business line management team in specific projects
• Lead the development of sectoral proposals that help position Zurich as a leader in certain market segments

The main KPIs to measure the success of your work will be:

• Improvement of conditions and portfolio retention
• Volume of new business generated
• Response time and satisfaction of brokers and internal commercial teams
• Quality of the executed underwriting process including the necessary process documentation (e.g., underwriting narratives)

Additional information

Don't worry—I'm not going to ask you to save the planet or meet 100% of the requirements.

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Economics, Law, or equivalent.
• 4-5 years of experience in underwriting, ideally in motor.
• Previous experience in Fleet underwriting.
• Ability to interact with brokers and market teams.
• Knowledge of the business and the market.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Advanced level of English.
