Performs daily floor maintenance including deep cleaning, stripping, buffing, and carpet care using specialized equipment in a public facility.

Summary:

This position complies with the Respect of Florida Program, a Florida-based initiative to promote employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Through nonprofit agencies, the program provides employment opportunities in the areas of custodial, landscaping and food preparation services to a multitude of County and State agencies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Laborers may be assigned to one or more of the following areas and are expected to perform various combinations of these responsibilities. A valid driver’s license is preferred.

  • Clean and maintain tile, marble, terrazzo, and carpeted floors to ensure they are spotless and free of stains.
  • Dust mop all floor areas thoroughly prior to deep cleaning.
  • Operate a 175 RPM floor machine to strip floors using appropriate cleaning solutions to remove old finishes.
  • Apply floor coatings to achieve a uniform and polished finish.
  • Use a high-speed floor machine to buff and enhance the appearance of finished floors.
  • Vacuum all carpeted areas to remove surface dirt and debris.
  • Pre-treat carpet stains and spots with appropriate chemical solutions.
  • Shampoo carpets using specialized equipment to ensure deep cleaning and stain removal.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned, which may include additional cleaning tasks or support functions as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.
