Maintains and cleans floors and surfaces across a school campus using cleaning agents and equipment, with occasional housekeeping duties.
Floor Technician
Garrison Forest School is seeking a motivated full-time Floor Technician. The Floor Technician will maintain various types of floor surfaces. This person will perform semi-skilled work following established floor cleaning and finishing techniques using and disposing of a variety of cleaning agents. The hourly rate for this position is between $18-$20 per hour based on experience level; the exact compensation will be discussed during the hiring process.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Assumes the responsibility for the in depth care of the carpets and hard surface floors throughout the campus facility or facilities assigned during the scheduled shift.
- Maintain knowledge of state of the art cleaning products, equipment, techniques
- Assumes the responsibility of performing the duties of a Housekeeper, when required.
- Vacuum, damp mop and sweep all floors
- Dust and vacuum all furniture as needed
- Spot-check and remove any visible markings on walls or furniture
- Collect and remove all trash from assigned building and place in dumpster
- Collect and remove all recycled materials from assigned building and place in recycle dumpster
- Sanitize all fixtures and surfaces in restroom
- Stock all restrooms with paper towels, toilet tissue, soap, etc.
- Clean all mirrors daily
- Clean all glass in entranceways and doors
- Check carpets and spot clean. Report major cleaning jobs.
- Sanitize desk tops and counters in designated areas
- Dust and wet mop all stairwells
- Report any floor care problems to the Housekeeping Supervisor
- Report any problems to the Housekeeping Supervisor
- Assist other housekeepers and take on fill-in duties as required.
- Perform all duties as directed by the Housekeeping Supervisor or Assistant Director of Plant.
Individuals must be able to work within a highly organized and fast past department; maintain good relation between all members of the department and school community. Meet and maintain a high level of cleaning standards and respond to directions from supervision in a manner that is consistent with professional standards.
