About the Role

National Design Mart is looking for a Flooring Sales Consultant to join our Medina, Ohio showroom.

This is a customer-facing, consultative sales position focused on helping homeowners select flooring and related products for their renovation and home improvement projects.

You will meet with customers in our showroom, understand their project needs and budget, recommend appropriate products, prepare quotes, and guide them through the sales process from consultation through order completion.

We are looking for candidates with previous sales experience, preferably in flooring, home improvement, furniture, kitchen and bath, interior design, or another consultative retail sales environment.

There is no cold calling or outbound prospecting required. Customers come to the showroom looking for solutions, and your role is to turn those opportunities into sales.

What You'll Do

• Conduct in-person sales consultations with customers in the showroom
• Ask questions to understand customers' project scope, budget, design preferences, and product needs
• Recommend flooring and home improvement products based on customer requirements
• Sell products including:
• • Hardwood flooring
  • Luxury vinyl plank (LVP)
  • Tile
  • Carpet
  • Laminate
• Prepare quotes and guide customers through pricing and product options
• Manage the full sales process from initial consultation through order completion
• Build relationships with customers and follow up on open opportunities
• Meet and exceed individual sales and revenue goals
• Maintain accurate customer and order information
• Keep the showroom organized, clean, and professionally presented
• Collaborate with installation, warehouse, design, and operations teams
• Address customer questions and concerns and help resolve issues throughout the project

What We're Looking For

• 1+ year of sales experience in a customer-facing environment
• Experience with consultative selling, product recommendations, quoting, or closing sales
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Comfortable discussing pricing and asking for the sale
• Customer-focused and motivated by achieving sales goals
• Ability to learn product specifications and confidently explain differences between products
• Basic computer, POS, CRM, or order-entry skills
• Ability to work in a showroom environment and remain on your feet for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
• Availability to work Saturdays and occasional evenings, with weekday flexibility

The strongest candidates are proven salespeople who enjoy working directly with customers and closing business.

You should be comfortable learning technical product information, comparing options, discussing budgets, recommending solutions, preparing quotes, and asking customers to move forward with a purchase.

Candidates whose background is primarily general customer service, hospitality, administrative work, or non-sales roles without demonstrated sales and closing experience may not be a strong fit for this position.
