Role Overview
Sherwood Queenstown is a sustainability-led, boutique hotel and restaurant set on the hillside overlooking Lake Wakatipu, awarded a Michelin Star in the inaugural MICHELIN Guide New Zealand. Sherwood is recognised for its hyper-local, seasonal menu and produce grown onsite, delivering a dining experience that celebrates creativity, community, and connection to the land.
Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager/Venue Manager, the Food & Beverage Duty Manager coordinates and oversees the day-to-day running of the venue in their absence, with particular emphasis on front-of-house and back-of-house operations, venue security and compliance, and maximising the profitability of the outlet. You'll be the face of the venue during your shift, empowered to resolve guest requests and issues, lead the team through any situation that arises, and help uphold the exceptional standard of service Sherwood is known for. This is a rare opportunity to be part of something special, at a restaurant now recognised on the world stage.
This is a full-time position with a minimum guaranteed hours of 30 per week.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily front-of-house and back-of-house operations, ensuring the venue is adequately staffed and service standards are consistently upheld
Be aware of VIP guests, group bookings and functions, ensuring all preparations are made in advance
Maintain effective communication with kitchen, Front Office, events and security teams, assisting any section of the venue when needed
Manage the guest complaint process, resolving requests and issues professionally and in a timely manner
Maximise average spend per head, covers and overall revenue through effective liaison with key personnel and yield strategies
Maintain the venue's duty log, uphold Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and security procedures, and lead the venue through crisis management action plans when required

What You'll Bring

A minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in hospitality
Strong leadership skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
Solid understanding of stock control, cost management and cashiering procedures
Knowledge of liquor licensing and WH&S compliance requirements
Excellent communication skills and a genuine, welcoming service style
Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
