Food Laboratory Assistant

Job Description

• Support teachers in the Teacher’s Preparation Room and Food Laboratories.
• Order and prepare food ingredients before lessons.
• Ensure safe and hygienic food preparation and handling.
• Maintain cleanliness of utensils, equipment and food laboratory areas.
• Manage inventory and stock-taking of books, utensils and equipment.
• Assist teachers during practical sessions and ensure students follow safety procedures.
• Guide students in food preparation skills during practical lessons.
• Check and file invoices and track ingredient costs.
• Perform other food laboratory duties assigned by the school.

Requirements

• Minimum Primary 6 qualification.
• Able to speak and write in English.
• Basic mathematical skills, including calculating ingredient quantities.
• Good knowledge of food ingredients and food preparation.
• Basic Food Hygiene Course certification is preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of food preparation experience in a commercial, school or training kitchen.
• School kitchen experience is an added advantage
