Food Laboratory Assistant (Secondary School)
Key Responsibilities:
- Laboratory Management & Preparation:Stay stationed in the Teacher’s Preparation Room and food laboratories during designated work hours.Pre-order necessary food ingredients and supplies prior to scheduled practical lessons.Prepare, wash, chop, and set up raw ingredients before lessons, ensuring absolute food safety and hygiene standard compliance.Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and hygiene of all kitchen utensils, appliances, equipment, and food laboratory environments.
- Instructional Support:Assist teachers during hands-on practical sessions by guiding students on basic preparation skills.Proactively monitor students to ensure strict adherence to kitchen safety and laboratory rules.
- Inventory & Administration:Conduct routine stock-taking and inventory management of kitchen tools, textbooks, utensils, and equipment.Review, verify, and file food ingredient supplier invoices while accurately tracking lesson expenditure costs.Perform any ad-hoc laboratory-related duties assigned by NFS teachers, Subject Heads, or School Leaders.
Job Requirements
- Education: Minimum Primary 6 qualification.
- Language Proficiency: Ability to converse, read, and write basic English.
- Mathematical Skills: Basic math proficiency required to calculate raw ingredient measurements across up to seven classes using a base recipe.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of practical food preparation experience in a commercial kitchen, school kitchen, or training facility. Prior school kitchen experience is heavily preferred.
- Certification: Good knowledge of food safety; completion of the Food Safety Course Level 1 (formerly Basic Food Hygiene Course) is a strong advantage.
Working Hours & Location
- Location: 10 Lengkok Bahru, Singapore 159050
- Mondays to Thursdays: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM (inclusive of a 30-minute lunch break)
- Fridays: 7:30 AM – 1:30 PM (no lunch break provided)
- Rest Days: Closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and all gazetted Public Holidays
