Position Summary

Ippolito's is searching for candidates to join the team at our restaurant located at 13th and Dickenson in South Philadelphia. We need candidates who have experience with food prep and kitchen maintenance in a fast paced, multi-cultural work environment. The environment covers the spectrum from oven hot to ice freezer cold and requires the ability to be on your feet for long hours. Key Responsibilities

Dishwashing & Sanitation

• Wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, utensils, seafood-processing tools, trays, pans, and other equipment.

• Maintain clean and sanitary work areas, sinks, floors, drains, and dishwashing stations.

• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.

• Remove trash, recyclables, and seafood waste according to established procedures.

• Keep cleaning supplies and equipment properly stocked and organized.

Receiving & Inventory

• Receive incoming deliveries of fresh and frozen seafood, produce, supplies, and other products.

• Assist with unloading deliveries and moving products to designated storage areas.

• Check deliveries for accuracy, product condition, quantity, and visible signs of damage.

• Help ensure products are stored promptly at the appropriate temperatures and in designated locations.

• Rotate inventory using FIFO (first in, first out) practices and follow proper labeling and storage procedures.

• Keep receiving areas clean, organized, and free of obstructions.

• Report discrepancies, damaged goods, or quality concerns to management.

Porter & General Operations

• Move seafood, boxes, ice, equipment, and supplies throughout the facility as needed.

• Assist with maintaining clean floors, walkways, storage areas, and loading zones.

• Break down cardboard, dispose of packaging, and maintain organized waste and recycling areas.

• Assist with setting up and breaking down workstations and moving equipment when needed.

• Support fishmongers, kitchen staff, and other team members with general operational tasks.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy items, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Comfortable working in cold, wet, and fast-paced environments.

• Ability to stand and move for extended periods.

• Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and food safety.

• Willingness to follow instructions and established procedures.

• Previous experience in dishwashing, seafood handling, receiving, warehousing, or food service is preferred but not required.

• Ability to work flexible shifts, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Physical & Working Environment

This position involves frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, and moving supplies. Work takes place in a seafood market environment where floors may be wet, temperatures may be cold, and tasks may require working around ice, seafood, cleaning chemicals, and heavy deliveries. Appropriate safety equipment and training will be provided as applicable.
