Food Processing Equipment Service Technician

In this role, you’ll troubleshoot, repair, maintain, install, and calibrate food processing machinery and related equipment while providing dependable service by phone and in person.

The opportunity

This is a hands-on service role for someone who likes variety, problem-solving, and helping customers. You’ll troubleshoot, repair, install, calibrate, and maintain industrial meat and food processing machinery and related equipment. You’ll work in the shop, in the field, and directly with customers to diagnose issues, complete preventative maintenance, and help keep operations running smoothly. The right person is mechanically inclined, dependable, customer-focused, and comfortable working independently.

What you’ll do

Equipment repair and installation

Repair, install, and adjust industrial meat and food processing machinery

Troubleshoot equipment issues and complete repairs accurately and efficiently

Read and utilize parts breakdowns, schematics, and equipment manuals to diagnose problems

Test equipment performance following repair or installation work

Preventative maintenance & field service

Perform routine preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life

Respond to work orders and service requests in a timely manner

Inspect equipment and identify potential issues before they become major problems

Customer support & problem solving

Work directly with customers to resolve equipment issues by phone and in person

Clearly communicate repair recommendations, maintenance needs, and equipment status

Document service work, parts used, time, and customer approvals accurately to support timely and accurate billing and invoicing

Build positive relationships through dependable service and professional communication

Help customers understand proper equipment operation and basic maintenance practices

Tools, vehicles & safety

Maintain shop equipment, tools, and service vehicles in a clean, organized, and working condition

Follow all company and customer safety protocols

Use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment safely and effectively

Perform other job-related tasks assigned by the supervisor

Experience servicing food processing or meat processing equipment helpful

Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams

Experience diagnosing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems

Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs

Experience working in customer-facing field service environments

Technical training, trade school education, or related certifications

Working conditions

This is an active, hands-on role that includes work in customer facilities, production environments, shop settings, and field service locations. You’ll use tools and equipment safely, interact with customers, travel as needed, and stay active throughout the workday.

Stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and lift throughout the workday

Repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds

Work around machinery, tools, and industrial equipment

Drive company service vehicles to customer locations

Travel overnight up to 20% as required

Work in environments that may include varying temperatures, noise levels, and production activity
