FOOD PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN (COLDROOM)
Summary
Operate meat-processing equipment, cut and pack meat to spec, and maintain sanitary conditions in a coldroom environment.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Prepare and pack high-quality cuts of meat according to customer specifications using company standards and adhering to all safety requirements.
The majority of the time will be spent operating processing equipment.
Operation of Meat Processing Equipment
Pack, trim, and customize portions of meat products using knives or other meat production equipment.
Count and stack portions per customer and company specifications
Label the portion with a supplied number of product labels
Set up the packing and labeling area as required
Perform end-of-day functions
Actively maintain and merchandise the partial cart
Keep the packing area, cutting room, and surrounding area clean and sanitized.
Follow the company GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) to maintain sanitary conditions, rotating shifts
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Lifting up to 30 lbs regularly, including overhead lifting, and up to 60 lbs occasionally. Push/pull up to 40 lbs. regularly.
• Meet established volume/activity standards.
• Stand or walk 100% of the time.
• Frequent reaching, grasping, and lifting individual stock items below waist level or above shoulder level.
• Frequent bending, kneeling, and squatting.
• Able to handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning materials, packaging materials, and food products.
• Tolerant of working in freezing temperatures -18 °C – 10 °C
• Ability to use computers, calculators, and communication systems to perform the job functions.
