Forward Deployed Engineer
Experience - 1 to 8 years
Preferred locations, in order: Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune.
Role purpose
Build and improve AI, data or enterprise engineering solutions for Ascendion clients. Turn a business
requirement into tested working software, explain your choices and take responsibility for the work
you deliver.
Expected outcomes
• Deliver assigned components that meet agreed tests and client acceptance criteria, with clear
documentation and a usable handover.
• Demonstrate how your work improves a user workflow, system quality or delivery effort, and explain
the evidence and remaining limitations.
Core responsibilities
• Clarify requirements with client engineers and domain experts. Propose practical options and
connect implementation choices to the business problem.
• Build, debug, integrate and test solutions. Follow work through release and resolve issues in the
components you own.
• Collaborate with Ascendion teams, technology partners and alliances to resolve dependencies and
earn client trust through reliable delivery.
• Use AI tools with judgment. Verify their output and apply relevant security, data quality, privacy and
responsible AI practices.
Must have experience and skills
• Relevant AI engineering experience and hands-on depth in at least one technical area below,
supported by strong programming, debugging and testing skills.
• At least one delivered component or system you can explain in depth: your contribution, design
choices, tests, failures and results.
• Experience clarifying stakeholder needs and explaining recommendations. Show both practical
problem framing and personal implementation work.
• Excellent written and spoken communication, ownership and follow-through. Work independently
within your scope, seek feedback and collaborate with others.
Seniority and leadership expectations
Own a defined piece of delivery as an individual contributor and team player. Support discussions with
AI, data and engineering leaders and contribute evidence for CxO discussions. As your experience
grows, take on larger components and help other engineers.
Relevant technical expertise
Implementation depth in at least one area is required. Different combinations are welcome; use
evidence relevant to your specialization.
• AI and decision systems: build or evaluate ML, Generative AI, Data Science or Decision Science
solutions. Explain model or retrieval quality, failure cases and how outputs are checked.
• Data and analytics: build SQL transformations, data models or cloud pipelines that support usable
enterprise analytics. Show data quality checks on AWS, Azure, Google Cloud or another
hyperscaler.
• Enterprise engineering: implement APIs, middleware integrations or delivery automation. Show
tests and release controls using relevant DevOps, DataOps, DataSecOps or release management
practices.
Good to have experience and capabilities
• Contribution to an enterprise AI transformation workstream, client workshop, partner demonstration
or executive presentation.
• Domain exposure in healthcare and life sciences (HCLS), banking, financial services and insurance
(BFSI), HiTech or another industry.
• Open-source work, internal tools or other evidence of self-directed building; applied AI governance,
Ethical AI or Responsible AI experience.
Location and travel
Preferred locations, in order: Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune. Work from an Ascendion office
or client location; permanent work from home is not offered. Travel within India and internationally for
client engagements and conferences is required.
