Forward Deployed Engineer | Bucharest | Romania | Hybrid

Sutherland is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join our team in Bucharest, Romania!

In this role you'll get to:

• Collaborate with the team to understand business requirements and configure solutions accordingly
• Test and validate configurations to ensure they meet the business and functional expectations.
• Design and develop Proof of Concepts (POCs), working closely with senior engineers to validate feasibility and effectiveness.
• Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date configuration documentation.
• Stay updated with the latest trends, tools, and technologies.
• Recommend enhancements or optimizations based on feedback

• 3-5+ years combined, split across a technical configuration/implementation role (Configuration Engineer, Software Engineer, or similar) and client-facing solution delivery or presales.
• Knows the low-code/agentic-platform competitive set (Appian, Camunda, IBM, Pega, or comparable conversational AI/orchestration tools).
• Real hands-on time building conversational flows from scratch
• Has configured or worked closely with an agent orchestrator
• Comfortable setting up and iterating on Knowledge Bases — document ingestion, chunking, prompt tuning against expected Q&A pairs and failure analysis.
• Has sat in the estimation/scoping loop — taking sales-validated use cases, judging technical feasibility, and aligning on a delivery timeline before customer kickoff.
• Fluent enough to write code inside the platform and work with APIs to integrate third party or client systems.
• Comfortable owning a solution end-to-end in front of PO, PM, and architect stakeholders, and translating business requirements into working configuration without hand-holding.
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Business Information or a related field.
• Familiarity with Python.

Major Advantages for candidates having the following:

• Direct experience with HTML, CSS, and Angular concepts, or a broader front-end/BPMN background.
• Has run 2–3 concurrent client implementations with shifting priorities.
• Has carried some post-kickoff ownership (Account Manager adjacent) — staying accountable to the customer after handoff rather than disappearing once the build starts
