Forward Deployed Engineer

Summary

Builds AI-driven healthcare SaaS for urgent care staffing (scheduling, payroll, etc.) by shipping full-stack features (React/Node.js) and deploying on AWS, while traveling weekly to customer sites to gather requirements and resolve issues in person.

About the Role

A fast-moving, early-stage healthtech company is looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to join their small, high-ownership team in Miami, FL. The company builds an AI-powered platform that automates staffing operations — including scheduling, payroll, credentialing, performance tracking, and clinical documentation — for urgent care and emergency medicine groups.

In this role, you'll split your time between shipping product and working directly with customers to translate their clinical and operational needs into reliable, working software. You'll travel frequently to customer sites, own deployments end-to-end, and play a meaningful role in shaping the product. This is a great fit for someone who loves building, thrives in ambiguous environments, and genuinely enjoys collaborating with non-technical stakeholders.

New grads and early-career engineers are encouraged to apply. We value strong building ability and emotional maturity over years on a résumé.

What You'll Do

  • Build and ship front-end and back-end features using TypeScript, React, Node.js, Deno, and SQL.

  • Collaborate directly with customers — clinical and operational teams — to gather requirements and iterate on solutions.

  • Deploy and operate services on AWS; troubleshoot and resolve production issues.

  • Travel frequently (often weekly) for on-site customer engagements and deployments.

  • Contribute to product design and rapid prototyping; take ideas from concept to shipped code quickly.

  • Help coordinate team logistics during travel (accommodations, transportation) as part of a tight-knit crew.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Hands-on experience with React.js for front-end development.

  • Back-end development experience with Node.js and/or Deno.

  • Comfortable writing and working with SQL databases.

  • Experience deploying or operating services on AWS.

  • Strong customer-facing communication skills — able to work directly with clinical or operational teams.

  • Ability to work in-person in Miami, FL (candidates relocating from anywhere in the US are welcome).

  • Must be eligible to work in the US — no visa sponsorship available.

Nice to Have:

  • Prior experience at a healthtech or B2B SaaS company (e.g. Commure, Roger Healthcare, Alleviate Health, or similar).

  • Comfort with ambiguity and a track record of shipping quickly in early-stage environments.

  • High emotional maturity and a collaborative, low-ego working style.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $70,000–$80,000 (slightly negotiable based on experience)

  • Total compensation target: $120,000–$150,000, inclusive of:

    • Housing and food coverage during travel

    • Transportation expenses

    • Equity participation

    • All travel-related costs covered

Location

This is a fully on-site role based in Miami, FL. The team works together in person and travels regularly to customer sites. Candidates willing to relocate from elsewhere in the US are strongly encouraged to apply — relocation support is open to discussion.
