Forward Deployed Engineer
Summary
Forward Deployed Engineer at an early-stage healthtech company building a payer intelligence platform, building and maintaining integrations with provider practices and insurance systems using Python, FastAPI, React, and TypeScript.
About the Role
This is a high-ownership engineering role at an early-stage healthtech AI company building a payer intelligence platform for procedure-heavy specialties like Vascular Surgery, Interventional Cardiology, and Interventional Radiology. You'll sit at the intersection of product and client, owning the integration layer between the platform and the real-world provider and insurance systems it serves. Your work will directly shape how surgical practices operate day-to-day.
What You'll Do
Build and maintain integrations with provider practices and insurance systems using APIs, scrapers, and RPA where needed.
Join client discovery sessions with the founding team to map workflows and translate them into clear technical requirements.
Ship custom integrations quickly and iterate based on real-world feedback from live deployments.
Contribute to core product development when integration work isn't the primary bottleneck.
Develop deep working knowledge of the US provider/payer landscape over time.
What We're Looking For
2–5 years of full-stack engineering experience building and shipping production features end-to-end.
Startup background with broad ownership across discovery, development, and delivery in small teams.
Proven experience integrating with third-party APIs.
Proficiency in Python and FastAPI (or equivalent backend frameworks) and React + TypeScript (or equivalent frontend).
Active daily use of AI coding tools (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) with shipped production work to show for it.
Strong communication skills — comfortable articulating technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong pluses: experience with web scrapers or RPA, US healthcare or provider/payer systems background, AWS or GCP infrastructure, and production LLM application development.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $150,000–$230,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
Location
Hybrid — based in New York City, NY. In-person presence required when called upon, with some travel expected.
