Description
MORELA | JOB SPECIFICATION
Forward Deployed Engineer
How would you like the opportunity to bring your existing engineering skills into the Palantir Foundry domain? Do you enjoy challenging, messy environments and taking products from prototype into production? Then this is the role for you.
This is a permanent position based in London on a hybrid basis, offering a salary of £50,000-£70,000 plus stock options, with visa sponsorship available. It is a rare chance for a talented engineer early in their career to gain hands-on Palantir Foundry experience, deploying it into some of the largest industrial businesses in the world.
About the Client
Morela is proud to be supporting a fast-growing, venture-backed AI company that builds a strategy and operations platform for large industrial enterprises. Founded by former executives who ran a $1bn division at a Fortune 500 industrial business, they bring an organisation’s scattered finance, supply chain and commercial data into one place, then layer AI on top so leadership can make decisions on real numbers.
They already work with a growing roster of major enterprise customers across several industrial verticals, and have significant open headcount into next year as they scale their forward deployed teams.
The Role
Palantir Foundry experience is one of the most sought-after skill sets in data and AI engineering today, and roles that let you build it from the ground up are genuinely hard to come by. This is one of them. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will work hands-on with Foundry every day, taking the client’s platform into major enterprise customers and making it work for their business.
You will connect real enterprise data, configure and extend the platform, and work directly with customer teams to get them live. Because this vertical is well established, you will have proven modules, repeatable patterns and experienced senior FDEs around you, so you can learn fast, ship real work early and build skills that will shape your career for years.
The client is looking for the very best engineers: technically strong, curious and hungry to grow. If you want to work at the sharp end of enterprise AI, alongside people who have deployed it at scale, this is the role.
Responsibilities
- Implement and configure the core platform on Palantir Foundry for new and existing enterprise customers
- Build data pipelines, transformations and applications within Foundry, developing your expertise on every engagement
- Connect customer data sources and build the integrations and data pipelines needed to get them live
- Work directly with customer stakeholders to understand their workflows, data and goals
- Use and extend existing modules and deployment patterns to deliver quickly and consistently
- Troubleshoot data and configuration issues and see deployments through to value
- Feed customer insight back to product and engineering to improve the platform
- Collaborate closely with senior FDEs and the wider delivery team
Essential Requirements
- 2-5 years’ experience in data engineering, software engineering, analytics engineering or a solutions / forward deployed engineering role
- Strong Python and SQL, with experience building data pipelines or integrations
- Client-facing confidence: comfortable working directly with customers and translating business needs into technical delivery
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to pick up new tools and platforms quickly
- Hunger, drive and a genuine appetite for hard problems. The team values the right mindset highly, and some of their strongest hires have come from unexpected backgrounds.
Desirable Experience
- Any exposure to Palantir Foundry or AIP is a bonus, but not required - this is where you will build it
- PySpark or experience with large-scale data processing
- Experience with ERP, supply chain, finance or commercial data in an industrial setting
- Consultancy or startup experience
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Maths or a related field
Working Environment
This is a fast-paced, high-growth environment where you will be hands-on from day one. The business is investing in a structured onboarding programme, with new starters joining in monthly cohorts and a dedicated first week of sessions and courses, alongside close support from the wider FDE team.
You will learn Palantir Foundry by doing, on live enterprise deployments, with senior engineers on hand to guide you. With significant hiring planned over the coming year, there is real room to progress quickly into senior and lead roles as the team grows.
