Forward Deployed Engineer
Summary
Forward Deployed Engineer owns AI agent deployments for customers end to end — from workflow discovery through go-live — translating business logic into agent behaviors, writing integration code, and debugging agents in production. Core stack: LLMs, agent frameworks, RAG, and Python/TypeScript integrations. UK-based remote with frequent UK/EU travel.
About the Role
Join a team delivering AI and automation solutions directly into customer environments. You will own deployments from workflow discovery through go-live, helping operational teams improve complex processes with production-ready AI agents.
What You'll Do
Lead customer deployments from kickoff through launch, managing delivery and customer relationships end to end.
Map customer workflows, identify automation opportunities, and address process issues or deployment blockers.
Translate business logic into agent behaviors, including actions, decision rules, exception paths, and fallbacks.
Configure and deploy agents across enterprise systems such as ERPs, portals, spreadsheets, email, and custom tools.
Write integration code, scripts, and prototypes, then debug and improve agents in production.
Facilitate working sessions with customer stakeholders, guide scope, and connect delivery to measurable business outcomes.
Document reusable deployment patterns and share workflow insights with product and engineering teams.
What We're Looking For
Five to eight years of experience in forward-deployed engineering, applied AI, technical consulting, or a similar hands-on delivery role.
Evidence of shipping AI or agentic systems in production within customer environments, owning work from scoping and build through go-live.
Practical experience with LLMs, agent frameworks, prompt engineering, evaluations, MCP, APIs, and retrieval-augmented generation.
Integration experience using Python, JavaScript or TypeScript, SQL, REST APIs, JSON, and webhooks.
Customer delivery experience beyond presales, demos, or advisory work, with strong communication and business-impact orientation.
Experience in operationally complex sectors such as retail, e-commerce, consumer goods, supply chain, manufacturing, or logistics is useful.
Based in the UK and able to travel frequently to customer sites across the UK and EU, around three days per week during active deployments.
