Who we are
Getting benefits shouldn't feel like a part-time job. For too many families, it does: a stack of forms, a wall of deadlines, and one missing document standing between them and help they already qualify for.
Mirza is changing that. We build public benefits infrastructure that matches people to the programs they're eligible for, helps them apply once across programs, and keeps them covered as the rules shift. That's 200+ programs across all 50 states, including Medicaid, SNAP, WIC, and childcare subsidies.
Government agencies, health plans, health systems, employers, community colleges, and unions use Mirza to reach the people they serve. Unfortunately, the stakes are about to get higher. New federal Medicaid requirements take effect January 1, 2027, affecting roughly 20 million adults, and states need a better way to make sure eligible people don't lose coverage over paperwork. We're building exactly that and we would love for you to join us.
About the role
As a Forward Deployed Product Manager at Mirza, you will own the product and operational outcomes of complex customer deployments from solution shaping through launch, adoption, and ongoing evolution.
You will work directly with customers to understand their workflows, policies, systems, data, constraints, and goals; translate that complexity into an executable solution; and lead a small forward-deployed delivery team in bringing that solution into production.
You will be operationally accountable for the success of the engagement. You will lead priorities, scope, sequencing, tradeoffs, and customer alignment day-to-day, while partnering closely with a forward-deployed Tech Lead who owns technical decisions and engineering execution.
The role sits at an important intersection between our customers, commercial organization, and core Product & Engineering teams. You will partner closely with account managers to identify opportunities to deepen customer value and expand relationships, while bringing high-quality product signal from the field back into Mirza’s core R&D organization.
This is not a traditional roadmap-focused Product Manager role or a project management role. Success means turning complex customer commitments into successful production deployments, measurable customer outcomes, and insights that make Mirza’s platform increasingly scalable and reusable.
What you’ll do
- Partner with Sales and account leads before contracts are signed to assess feasibility, clarify customer needs, and flag delivery risks, so what we sell can actually be delivered.
- Turn signed commitments into executable delivery plans with clear outcomes, scope, milestones, acceptance criteria, dependencies, governance, and launch expectations.
- Run deep discovery across a customer's business processes, users, policies, systems, integrations, data, and edge cases, and separate what they asked for from the problem they actually need solved.
- Decide whether each need is best met through configuration, integration, customer-specific engineering, or a reusable platform capability.
- Lead the delivery team day-to-day: set priorities, sequence work, manage scope and dependencies, and turn complex workflows into clear requirements and prioritized backlogs.
- Make fast, thoughtful tradeoffs across customer needs, technical feasibility, platform integrity, security, compliance, timeline, and capacity, and keep delivery health, risks, and scope changes visible.
- Own the product side of QA, customer UAT, and launch readiness, making sure training, documentation, and operational workflows are in place before go-live.
- Stay accountable after launch: coordinate production triage and customer communication, track adoption with real data, and keep iterating until the solution works in practice.
- Give account managers a clear view of delivery health, outcomes, and unmet needs, and support renewal and expansion conversations with evidence. They own the commercial relationship; you own delivery.
- Bring high-quality signal from the field back to core Product and Engineering, spotting patterns across deployments and separating real platform opportunities from one-off customer exceptions.
- Help build the playbooks, templates, and operating rhythms for Mirza's new Forward Deployed Customer Engineering and Delivery team, and turn each deployment's lessons into repeatable patterns.
What we’re looking for
- 6+ years in product management, solutions, implementation, technical delivery, or a similar customer-facing technology role.
- A proven track record of owning complex customer-facing software implementations from discovery through production.
- Strong product judgment and the ability to turn ambiguous customer problems into clear, pragmatic solutions.
- Experience leading engineers and cross-functional teams through influence and day-to-day delivery leadership, even when you're not their manager.
- Strong technical fluency with APIs, integrations, data flows, cloud-native systems, and automation, plus the discipline to keep product accountability separate from technical decision-making.
- Commercial instincts: you can spot where technology creates more customer value and shape credible expansion opportunities without turning every request into custom development.
- Excellent customer-facing communication, including building trust with senior stakeholders, navigating hard tradeoffs, and speaking up early when delivery is at risk.
- Strong scope, prioritization, dependency, and risk-management skills, and experience measuring adoption and customer outcomes after launch.
- Comfort in an early-stage, fast-scaling environment where the operating model itself is still being built.
- Consulting experience, especially structured problem solving, rapid learning, and executive communication in ambiguous customer environments.
- Familiarity with security, privacy, accessibility, and compliance requirements in regulated software environments.
- Experience with AI-powered products, intelligent automation, document processing, conversational interfaces, or LLM-enabled workflows.
We aren't expecting you to be an expert in everything described above. If you check most of the boxes, and are ready to roll up your sleeves and learn, we’d love to hear from you.
