bluepina is building the home for boutique hotels, surf camps, and retreats, helping independent hosts reach travelers without giving up their margins to the big booking sites. We're a small, remote-first team. A boutique host doesn't have a revenue team, a marketing team, or a support team; we think AI is how a two-person surf camp competes with a booking giant. We're hiring our first dedicated AI engineer to build that.

The role

You'll own the AI layer end to end: agent harnesses, tool-use pipelines, RAG over listings and host knowledge, and evals, plus the product surface on top. This is product engineering with LLMs, not research. Success is measured by whether a host's guest question gets answered correctly at 2am and whether a traveler finds the right retreat, not by demos.

What you'll do

• Build agents that do real work for hosts: guest messaging that knows the property, listing and content generation, pricing suggestions from availability and demand
• Build natural-language trip discovery for travelers ("a fun surf camp in France in October, under €900 a week") over structured availability data
• Build the eval and observability layer so we know when the system is actually getting better
• Ship the full feature, from prompt to Postgres to the React frontend the guest sees, in TypeScript and Python

You probably

• Have 1-3 years experience shipping LLM systems to real users
• Are full-stack enough to own a feature alone, and rigorous enough to insist on evals over vibes
• Have startup experience; if you founded something (even if it didn't work out), we consider that a feature, not a gap
• Are allergic to AI theater and want your agents doing real work for real small businesses

Tech stack

• Our stack is NextJS, Claude agent SDK, React, Postgres, NodeJS
• Open to candidates with experience in Rails, Elixir, Clojure, Scala, Rust, and Go.
