Founding Applied AI Engineer
Description
A seed-stage healthcare AI company is hiring two Founding Applied AI Engineers to build and operate conversational agents for clinical trials. These agents contact patients by text, voice, and email, screen them for eligibility, route them to relevant trials, and book appointments.
You’ll take ownership of the existing patient outreach and screening agents and build a new patient-facing agent. Working directly with engineering and operations, you’ll use production traces to understand where conversations break down and turn those failures into evaluations that catch regressions before they reach patients.
What you’ll do
- Build, deploy, and operate conversational agents across SMS, voice, and email.
- Improve eligibility screening, trial routing, and appointment booking across thousands of real patient conversations.
- Own tracing and evaluations, diagnose live failures, and verify fixes before rollout.
- Test new approaches to agent design and bring the ones that improve reliability into production.
What you’ll bring
- You’ve personally built a production conversational agent that interacted directly with thousands of regular external users, such as consumers or patients.
- You can walk through a real failure in that agent: how you found it, what you changed, and how you prevented it from recurring.
- You have deep hands-on experience building and operating agents. The language and framework are flexible.
- You can work onsite in San Francisco Monday–Friday, 10 a.m.–9 p.m., and Saturday, noon–7 p.m.
- 0–4 years of experience.
- Healthcare experience is a plus.
Benefits:
- Compensation: $150,000.00 - $220,000.00 base + 0.1% - 1% equity
- Benefits include office lunch and dinner
- 401(k)
- Visa: H1-B Transfers Allowed
