Founding Engineer – Backend
Summary
Build the backend foundation for a personal financial intelligence platform that routes across financial domains, using Postgres and scalable data architectures.
About Quin:
Quin is a personal financial intelligence platform. We are building an orchestration layer that routes across financial domains, so users are financially autonomous. The thesis: the advice dependency was always built on information scarcity and computation inaccessibility. Neither exists anymore.
A prototype is in market with testers and is iterating. We’re raising to accelerate our process and the capital funds this hire.
The role:
You’re the first engineering hire. The next 18 months are about shipping the data and workflow layer as the foundation to support an autonomous and agentic platform.
You’ll own backend architecture decisions from day one. The stack is clean and the codebase is small. What you build now becomes load-bearing.
What we’re looking for:
- 5+ years backend engineering
- Strong data modeling instincts (you’ve designed schemas that had to scale)
- Experience with Postgres, RLS, and multi-tenant data architectures
- Comfort operating without process
- Finance domain familiarity a plus, not a requirement
What you won’t find here:
- Layers of existing code to decipher
- A product roadmap handed down from a PM
- An engineering culture built on velocity without judgment
Location:
US-based applicants only
Preference for San Francisco Bay Area (tech), Chicago (consumer), or New York City (finance)
Compensation
Competitive base salary + meaningful founding equity.
