Founding Engineer
Summary
Founding full-stack engineer at an early-stage energy software startup building a real-time optimization and forecasting platform for industrial battery storage, using Python backend and React/TypeScript frontend.
About the Role
This is a hands-on founding engineering role at an early-stage energy software startup building an end-to-end platform for industrial battery storage. You'll own both backend and frontend development, shaping the core product that drives real-time optimization and forecasting across a growing portfolio of energy assets. Your work will have direct impact on product direction and company trajectory.
What You'll Do
Own and build the core product driving real-time optimization and forecasting for energy assets.
Develop backend services and optimization algorithms to process operational data in real time.
Create frontend dashboards for battery operators to monitor and control assets.
Design and scale infrastructure to support thousands of battery systems.
Collaborate cross-functionally to define product features and requirements.
Deploy production-ready optimizations and iterate based on live deployment feedback.
What We're Looking For
Full-stack engineering experience (2–6 years) building and shipping production applications.
Startup experience at an early-stage company (under 3 years old and fewer than 50 employees).
Strong frontend skills with JavaScript/TypeScript, React (Next.js preferred), and Tailwind CSS.
Solid backend experience with Python, including mixed-integer optimization techniques.
Hands-on experience with real-time data processing and optimization/forecasting systems.
Experience designing and operating scalable distributed backend systems.
Containerization and modern deployment practices (Docker/Kubernetes) with CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
Database design and data modeling experience (e.g., PostgreSQL/MySQL).
Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Electrical Engineering with strong academic performance.
Fluency in German is highly valued — most customers operate in German-speaking markets.
Experience in the energy industry or deploying optimizations in production systems is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
