About the Role
Join a small, product-focused team as its first full-time engineering hire. You will help shape the technical direction of an early-stage insurance technology company, building AI agent systems and product capabilities that address meaningful customer needs.
What You'll Do
Build and iterate on AI agent systems that power the core product.
Own full-stack development across backend services, APIs, and frontend interfaces.
Partner with the founding team on product decisions, balancing technical feasibility with user needs.
Architect scalable backend systems that support AI workloads.
Contribute to platform infrastructure as the team grows.
What We're Looking For
At least 3 years of experience building and shipping full-stack products, with a strong backend foundation and product engineering mindset.
Experience building AI agents or similar AI systems, ideally with AI or machine learning systems in production.
Ability to own product decisions and deliver end-to-end work with both product and platform considerations.
Strong technical fundamentals, with experience at an established company or an early-stage startup; startup experience can be an alternative to a traditional academic background.
Insurance or financial services experience is helpful.
Comfort working independently and contributing across a broad engineering scope.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $150,000 to $190,000 annually, depending on experience. Equity: 1% to 3%. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Location
Hybrid in New York City, with an expectation to work from the office most days and some flexibility.
