Founding Engineer

Founding Engineer

Department: Engineering

Location: New York

Employment Type: FullTime

About the Role

This is a true 0→1 Founding Engineer opportunity at an early-stage, venture-backed AI SaaS company operating at the cutting edge of applied AI for manufacturing. You'll join at the ground floor and play a defining role in shaping both the product and the company itself. Working hands-on with large language models (LLMs), you'll build agents that feel magical to users while driving real business outcomes — specifically in the Configure, Price, Quote (CPQ) space for manufacturers. You'll work directly with real users, iterate rapidly, and architect software built to scale.

This role is on-site in New York, NY. Visa sponsorship is available.

What You'll Do

  • Ship core AI features across the full stack, from backend services to polished front-end experiences.

  • Invent and launch new product capabilities that deliver meaningful value for manufacturing customers.

  • Architect scalable, well-designed distributed systems and APIs built for long-term growth.

  • Tackle challenging, ambiguous engineering problems with creativity and rigor.

  • Integrate with enterprise systems including ERP and CRM platforms to power automated quoting workflows.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the founding team to rapidly prototype and validate ideas with real users.

What We're Looking For

Must-haves (dealbreakers):

  • Proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, and React with hands-on production experience.

  • Ability to work on-site at the company's New York office.

Required skills & experience:

  • Significant hands-on experience building AI features leveraging large language models (LLMs) and integrating AI capabilities into production software.

  • Experience designing and building scalable distributed systems and APIs.

  • Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.

  • Experience integrating with ERP/CRM systems (e.g., data syncing, workflow automation, handling legacy systems).

  • Ownership mindset — ability to ship core features end-to-end in a fast-paced, outcomes-driven environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams.

  • Strong computer science fundamentals.

Experience range: 2–8 years of relevant software engineering experience.

Location

  • On-site — New York, NY, United States
